N3? It means the sales guys run around like headless chickens screaming that the slightest glitch is jepordising billions of potential future revenue  - when they've been penny pinching for years :(. And various bits of BT stab each other in the back at the merest hit of being in prime spot for the Prime Service Provider bidding. Meanwhile Cisco sell vapourware to the NHS that is light years away from practical implementation.

I prob shouldn't say too much more ;)

Ok, well this one is sorted. Thanks to all you guys who suggested stuff. I eventually got them to talk by installing IPX (bleugh) onto the server in question. I then set the ipx network no's up and it talks to it now. I dunno why it wouldnt work with IP but it works with IPX.

Still couldn't connect to the internal hidden shares though ie c$ d$ e$ via IP

It's also worth mentioning that this was also the server that was compromised a few weeks back, which may have made some diff, but I seriously doubt it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a tech articale on nbstat / netbios etc because I understand ip, subnets etc but not he periferal ms stuff (ie a non janet and john one ? )

Anyhow, many thanks to all you guys again. I owe you all a few beers !
