Does a full decat require a remap??????

No, it's upto the individual how far you go as you can go on forever spending.

The oil temp is not an issue, but the pressure which is what iv'e been ranting on about is IMHO as my mates just toasted his WRX from the same thing, loss of oil, when warning light came on, engine was already fcuked up.

The full decat though, should free up the engine gasses flow. The main gains are from the front pipe decat, remember you will have to put the OE exhaust back on for it to pass the emmisions for the MOT. What MY is your car?

Sorry just read the top of thread !!!

It depends on which model IMHO. To start with classic UK cars run rich so are generally considered to be safe, Sti's/ P1's/JDM imports run a much more aggressive map and so can get into problems much more easily. MY01+ has serious boost spike issues on decatting.

If you have a Uk classic then you are probably OK, although I would use Octane booster to improve your safety margin.

If you have a jap import sti /P1 etc then although it will run decatted with just octane booster ( my P1 with full Scoobysport decat did for a year, but I didn't have a knocklink and was blissfully ignorant) you are taking a risk. I had Ecutek 3 done by BRD - not just more power but more safety and smoother.Plus I had knocklink etc fitted at the same time.

MY01+ you need restrictors to avoid the boost spikes.

Decatting per se won't make your car slower, on the contrary you will get better spool up and it will release some power ( never mind that noise:D), it's just if your car starts to knock then the ecu will pull timing. If it's not knocking you're fine.

Spend the cash, you won't regret it, but put some octane booster in as well to make sure (Pete sells Silkolene pro boost as well)
