Rich

Hope your feeling better soon

I agree with Tony, Cars can be replaced but a person cannot

Take Care on the roads all
just watch out for other drivers to, some may not be as careful as others.

Dyney 07 January 2003 05:24 PM

Rich, Glad to hear your OK:)
Sounds like a nasty one.

I shall take even more care in these conditions now! and so should we all!!!

Iain.

matty01 07 January 2003 05:33 PM

..echo your sentiments ...be carefull..

this side of studded tyres,ALL cars are useless on black ice(or any smooth ice for that matter)
Try to get all of your braking done before you steerif theres an increased risk of ice and where appropriate and safe at loww speed cut cornars to the max. to give you extra room if it goes pear shaped.

MattOz 07 January 2003 05:36 PM

Coming round a corner where there is usually a natural spring that runs along the verge only to find a 100m long patch of ice certainly focuses the mind! I'd have shat meself on a push bike, but I was in my M5, which made it even more interesting! LOL

Apparently 400 bhp and RWD can be a little tricky in these conditions! ;)

Just take care out there and drive accordingly. Also, try not to get too frustrated with the prat who inevitably sits 1m off your rear bumper!

 I know you told me it was bad but I didn't think it was that bad  you were lucky to get away without injury.

Andy Hall 08 January 2003 01:50 PM

Glad your hubbys ok, AWD is great while tyou have grip, but once it goes on ice it all goes. Last year was out in the snow with my 3 year old (so driving with extreme care) started to go down a hill towards a T junction so doing about 10-15mph in second from well back. All of a sudden the car starts accelerating down the hill with wheels still turning. Hit brakes ABS so like free wheeling. Luckilly started to slide towards the kerb so pulled on handbrake and hit the kerb side on with wheel (which buckled)about 6 feet short of oncomming traffic in both directions, jugernaught comming one way transit the other!! Guess we were very lucky.

I have to say I cringed mightily when I saw the pics - glad you walked away from that one.

It has just started snowing here so I think I'll leave the RWD monster at home . . . . !

Now get your ass back to work!

Mice_Elf 08 January 2003 01:55 PM

I looked at the first 2 photos and thought "oh, it wasn't that bad"...then the others loaded!!

Feckin' hell, Rich - I'm so glad that you are ok!

zero_to60 08 January 2003 01:59 PM

my RWD non traction control equipped Honda S2000 is staying in the garage for the time being

sexy wrx69 08 January 2003 02:18 PM

Fecking hell guys!!

Cant believe how bad that is.

Just as long as you two are ok....thats the main thing???

Re-Bitten Hero 08 January 2003 02:24 PM

Likewise Anna and Rich... :( Take care of them Gossy & MJ!

Here in Munich, we get many inches of snow every year (so I'm told - first winter here). For the last couple of days, we've had about an inch or two a day, and the temperatures have hit around -8C each night. Therefore, each day, the sound of rrrrmmmmrrrRRRRMMMMM (slide slide slide) of every BMW older than 3 years old, going sideways at each junction :( But on pure ice with 4wd it's a disaster - no wheels point the right direction when they're spinning !

Take care both
Richard

astraboy 08 January 2003 03:34 PM

Jesus rich, I was thinking the same thing till the last few loaded. You're lucky to get through that with all your bits intact!
Glad your OK and stuff, remember its just a car and thats what insurance is for. What matters is that you're intact.

Shame about the car, but at least nobody was hurt  That's the main thing.

BOB.T 08 January 2003 04:57 PM

:eek:youch:eek:

Glad you're OK:)

Just heard on the radio a 22 year old man was killed in an accident locally:( Police have asked for witnesses and want to know how he was driving before the accident, ffs, he's died what does it matter... you can't cream any money out of him now I bet it would be different if he'd been 50ish. It was feckin slippy here last night, it didn't look like the gritters had been out either:eek:

SHESCOOBY 08 January 2003 09:01 PM
