SO3's did very badly in recent EVO tyre test (particularly in the wet). F1's rated best followed by (strangely) Continental and then Toyos. Having tried and been very satisfied with F1's, I know which I'll choose next.

In any case, you can't compare, as my Toyos are 18", and Carolyn's S03's are 17" - the sidewall height on the 225/40 Toyo is 90mm and the sidewall height on the S03 is 101mm - BIG difference.

IMHO, this thing about sidewall stiffness is a complete load of guff that appeared in a thread on here about 15 months ago, and has been perpetuated ever since, probably by people that have never driven on them.

Our daily drive is 18 miles cross country on 60 mph rural roads which are poorly surfaced, potholed, covered in leaves, mud and at the moment standing water everywhere.

This is a pretty good test IN THE REAL WORLD, and I would stick my neck out and say that (again, IMHO) in the wet on two identical cars I think the 17" S03 may have the edge on the Toyo. But, i'm not a tyre technician, I just get in the thing and drive it by the seat of my pants, what do I know;)

Top reply, I have a P1 and find it very difficult to actually realise that the turn in is delayed due to tyre wall movement, how the hell do you gauge that....

Surely this is the sort of thing Telemtry would notice in the bid to shave hundreths of seconds off a formula 1 car...

I don't think I drive the P1 anywhere near the limit but enjoy how I do drive it so much I wouldn't change it for anything else at the moment.
