Hate to say it.......but.........I agree with MarkO
|
BBQ'd Nappies??
Oh well, makes for an interesting conversation with your BBQ guest I suppose... |
Chill out MarkO!!! It is true, if you can get help take it! |
Have the Kid!!!!
Sell the scooby, if you have to. We had our first, and only baby 14 month ago, it has been the best thing to happen to us. My wife packed in her work to bring him up, and i dont regret one minute the cost or inconvenience caused by the little angel. I dont persoanlly agree with having children and then fobbing them off with baby minders or relatives!!! YOU AND YOUR PARTNER should be responsible for them!!! If you cant afford it, dont do it!!! Children need their parents!!! BB;) |
P.S I agree with MarkO,
If a 4 wheeled piece if metal takes equal priority with a Child, Then don't have a child, its pretty simple. Could you imagine telling your kid when it groes up "aah, well it was a close call between you and having the sports car"? |
Very true. I didn't realise tax credits were available so high up the earnings scale So with a kid -- you don't have one, do you MarkO? -- you could pay yourself about 34k and your missus about 34k and still get the full children's tax credit. Of course, you'd probably have to show she was doing about 34k's worth of work. And as a small company you can reclaim all the statutory maternity payments you make to her, too :D |
See they ain't so bad afterall and if it does help keep the Scoob, why not?
It's not as though I am sitting claiming every kind of benefit I can get, sitting in the house and not working and have a scooby. I am working and raising a child on my own! I think I am doing quite well! It just really makes my blood boil when folk think I am sponging off the government, as I am not! |
Buy a Sport :D ;)
|
Its simple.
If you can't afford the [car/child]* then [sell it/don't have it]* *delete as appropriate D |
What about selling the 5-year-old to pay for the new baby? :D
|
Piece of replaceable metal and stuff V Unique, Irreplaceable Human Life....hmmmm....tough call....
|
Basically I find that it pays for Stevens childcare and some left over! What you have left over could be for Optimax Do you drive the scooby to the dole office to get income support and milk tokens too??? I fooking hate spongers!!! bb;) |
MarkO, totally agree with everything you say. I got rid of my Impreza because the running costs were astronomical. If you need to cut down on your monthly outgoings and getting rid of the car isn't the obvious answer then I am afraid your priorities in life are totally messed up.
Secondly they say only fools and horses work and this thread proves it. Comments such as "Work part time and get your earnings increased with the tax credits scheme" really p!ss me off. Seems there are a lot of people out there who really know how to work the system to their advantage. I thought the benefits scheme was supposed to help out people, not encourage them to work part time or not at all. Think I might just go down the benefits office later and find out how much I can get if I jack in my job tomorrow. It's not as if I enjoy working and I am sure there are better things I could be doing with my time rather than supporting all these people who think the world owes them a living. |
Scary stuff. I've agreed with every post that beemerboy's made in this thread. ;)
|
Thanks everyone! I was prepared for the slating I was gonna get bout this!! I pretty much knew that the car needed to go but it'll break my heart. It'll be down to my bloke now as to what happens. He wants both like me!! At least we will be able to say that we once owned a Scooby and we don't have to sell it till i'm about 7 months pregnant so will probably be less of a trauma. :D
|
I like that idea Mark!
I work part time and Steven comes to work with me as I am fortunate to have an onsite nursery. I personally think it is good for a baby to mix with other children from a small age as they develop much quicker in life. My son is very intelligent for his age and because of this we are seeing a Specialist tomorrow for an advanced assessment. How many 3 year olds do you know that can count to 20 and back down to 1, say the full alphabet, recognise letters and numbers, know just abuot every colour there is and the list goes on. That is all down to me and the nursery. This could go on and on but I personally think if you are managing at the moment with the scooby, why should it change? I am not a selfish person just don't see why your life should change because of a baby. Amanda |
working part time is the best of both worlds IMO.
Amanda |
am not a selfish person just don't see why your life should change because of a baby. Are you really trying to tell me your life hasn't changed because of your baby? And just because somebody is 'managing' with a scoob now, doesn't mean they're going to be able to continue after a new member of the family is born! Oh, and spare us the "my baby is considerably more amazing than yors" stuff, that's so predictable for parents! |
Steady MarkO, we'll be out drinking together next!!!!!
;)BB |

Red Dog,
I understand exactly where you are coming from here. My girlfriend is expecting our first kid (due tomorrow) and i've just bought a scoob. I know we'll struggle with money but the 3 things that are most important to me are 1)the kid 2)my girlfriend 3)my car. As long as i have those three i'm happy to compromise with other things. As for the comments about sponging from the taxpayers and getting tax credits ... I am a tax payer and have been since i left school over a decade ago. It's a tiny portion of my tax payments i'm claiming back, not anyone elses!!! How will my love of cars affect my kid?? It's something else i'll get to share with my kid... not something that'll distract me from him/her. |
buy Terry's nappies. BB |
It's a tiny portion of my tax payments i'm claiming back, not anyone elses!!! |
Thank you Carl (again) and Marty. :)
I have worked for 14 years now and I am not sponging off the government. They say I am entitled so why not apply! Steven gets the best of both worlds, as we are only apart for 4 hours a day and that is thanks to the government. Otherwise I would have to work full time and spend less time with my son. I really don't think that this is getting us anywhere, really think we should agree to disagree on this! :D Amanda x |
Maybe JoeyDeacon should tell the Inland Revenue he wants his tax code changed to zero, so that he gets no personal allowance and pays tax on all his earnings so that he's not sponging off the government
Why should he get that first £4.61k tax free? |
I'm already claiming tax credits and I have been since I split with my husband begining of last year. They are there to encourage people with kids to work if only part time!! If you have a child and don't claim then more fool you! What I can't abide is people who don't work and claim everything under the sun!
|
totally agree Red_dog!
At least we are working :D Amanda x |
Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with tax credits, and if I had children now I'd be claiming them, despite not needing them. As Carl says, there's no point in throwing money away.
What I do object to is the idea that by claiming the tax credits, somebody who's not so well off can then continue to run an expensive sports car, when they'd be unable to do so without the credits. That's not what they're there for - the credits are supposed to be for the benefit of the children, and I can't see why a 2-y-o kid is going to benefit from being run about in a Scoob compared to a diesel Focus, or whatever. |
I didn't call anyone a sponger, just said i hate them!!!
Is there a case of the cap fitting?? ...we'll never know. I'll agree to disagree!! ...erm what was the question again? BB;) |
A diesel Focus!!!! You have got to be kidding? I would rather walk or take the bus! Oh that's right I already do!!! :D
