Not long until SN's favourite car youtuber hits TV!

bioforger 22 March 2016 03:31 PM

Can't wait! i will use it to help me have my mid evening nap.

RS_Matt 22 March 2016 06:56 PM

What I like about Tim is that he's fundamentally a car guy, he may cook the odd turkey via the exhaust of a Lambo (to pinch TG's 11-18yo target audience) but he'll never dismiss a car due to it not having a sense of humour or not breaking traction easily in a 4x4.

I'd rather watch Shmee tell me what every single button does in a Veyron to watching some ratings obsessed puppets seeing if a Toyota Carina can double up as a submarine.

RS_Matt 22 March 2016 08:14 PM

For those of you who were waiting for the live stream of tonight's first episode of SupercarTV. The show will air at 10pm GMT (3 hours behind the TV broadcast on Sky channel 212) via this live stream:

RS_Matt 22 March 2016 11:17 PM

sh*t me, Shmee has just messaged me on Facebook whilst I'm watching his show!

edit: Shmee is not happy with SKY Showcase's quality control! Audio was extremely quiet.
TBH the show was quite dull and at times incoherent.

bioforger 23 March 2016 12:39 AM

Yea the audio was ridiculously low. The "show" was terrible, it was just a collection of his utube vids as i thought it would be, at least use unseen content

RS_Matt 19 April 2016 01:10 PM

Shmee has been posting on Facebook that his friend/cameraman and fellow Youtuber Seb Delaney has been car jacked in Paris at gunpoint

Facebook Post

Facebook Post

His huge European following have been tracking it!

bioforger 19 April 2016 03:02 PM

To be honest i'm surprised something like this hasn't happened before, due to their internet "fame". Pretty scary for them none the less.

RS_Matt 19 April 2016 07:39 PM

Yeah, they have to be careful now, Shmee is probably the 2nd most well known car journalist on the planet now and he's still advertising his whereabouts all the time. ..and he and his team have a lot of haters, as seen on here.

This gay boy admiration for another man can only be freely expressed if you have total anonymity!

BrownPantsRacing 22 April 2016 10:10 AM

Wouldn't it be terrible if something happened to Shmee-gol. God forbid! :?

Until you started off your gayfest, plugging him at every possible opportunity I'd never heard of him.

"2nd most well known car journalist on the planet"?

Bull***t

bioforger 22 April 2016 11:54 AM

lol agreed, much more well known motoring journalists out there. The TG crew for starters.

RS_Matt 22 April 2016 12:07 PM

Clarkson
Shmee
Leno
Hammond
May

There's an argument for May and Hammond 2nd and 3rd but they aren't especially know fundamentally as car journalists, bur rather stooges for Clarkson's staged pranks that are sometimes car related. I'm talking out and out car Journos.

Jay Leno is the most well known of the 5 but again, for presenting rather than explicitly reviewing and covering cars.

bioforger 22 April 2016 12:35 PM

The 5th gear presenters are also better known than shmee.

Not worldwide.

This "who should host Top Gear" list for example of 126,000 votes, Shmee garnered more votes than any other Journo!!!

http://www.ranker.com/list/who-do-yo...r-/matthewgill

Most SN users won't have heard of Shmee, yet, but he's amassed 273,326,647 views on youtube and has 2,286,795 followers on facebook. He's the fastest growing car related online following according to some web data.

Jay Leno's garage has accrued 217,016,940 views by comparison.
Clarkson's Top Gear a monumental 1,253,074,488 views

So I suppose in a way Shmee is the 2nd most well known car related media outlet, this list of youtube views puts it all into perspective:

1,253,074,488 - Top Gear
273,326,647 - Shmee
217,016,940 - Jay Leno
143,822,123 - Supercars of London
124,150,038 - 5th Gear
27,543,261 - Salomondrin
26,491,160 - Chris Harris
14,550,224 - Seen through glass
7,190,157 - Seb Delanney
6,932 - KG Tuning

dpb 22 April 2016 01:16 PM

never heard of her

well not before this love in you got

I suppose you have to be a certain type

RS_Matt 22 April 2016 01:18 PM

Actually I'm wrong as per.

Boring arse Saabkyle04, 402,898,460 views!!! Though Kyle only has 47,000 Facebook followers compared to Shmee's 2.3million and 32,000 followers on instagram compared to Shmee's 733,000, so I'm tying myself up in knots again.

Shmee is certainly number 1 in regards to pictures of cars from all the aforementioned journalists, AFAIK, so maybe there's an argument in that too.

It's only a matter of time, before Shmee is king of all outlets IMHO. TV Show, picture galleries, social media sites and youtube.

No gay interest (I watch Seb Delanney for that), just common sense.

RS_Matt 22 April 2016 01:23 PM

I'll start a separate thread as the race to be the number 1 car media outlet is getting quite interesting!

dpb 22 April 2016 01:40 PM

dpb 22 April 2016 01:41 PM

RS_Matt 22 April 2016 02:09 PM

Just for you dpb!

Hard to denounce Shmee being well known, when you see what he stacks up against.

bioforger 22 April 2016 02:13 PM

He's only well known if you use the net a lot, well more specifically utube, period! You ask anyone who doesn't and they won't have a fecking clue who he is.

Samwise 22 April 2016 02:19 PM

Geez the fanboyism for Schmee is shocking in this thread.
I'm not even going to insult the dude personally but his stuff is boring. Car vlogging in general is boring and most supercars are dull as ditchwater as they get more and more blinged up to be vlogged about and posted on instagram rather than actually used to function as the absolute pinnacle of automotive technology.

I'm looking forward to the new Top Gears (yes both of them) but if Schmee made his way on to my tv I definitely wouldn't be watching the BBC one. We already have Chris Evans on there, he's bad enough. The spot for a rich (slightly bellendish) supercar owner who actually deep down doesn't know the first thing about cars is already filled.

Sorry, just my opinion :) Enjoy the SupercarsTV stuff

and facebook, Instagram, he's got his own website and SKY TV show. Don't forget 2.3m followers on facebook share his posts, his extended network must be insane in size, hence his rapid progression into the top 5 of hosting car content.

It's not all about TV these days, Shmee is a player in the car world now, it's incontrovertible.

Ask a 1000 people at random in Germany who Jason Plato is and who Shmee is and I bet more know of Shmee.

IMO the brilliance of Shmee is that he doesn't try and upstage the cars. He doesn't scream like Chris Harris, swear like Salomondrin and he doesn't turn a Vauxhaull Viscount into a Mobile Toilet like Clarkson and Co.

:Whatever_
You know you would'nt get near as much flakk about Schmee in return if you weren't acting so fanatical about it.
Or are you about to announce the opening of the first worldwide Church of Schmee?

I know, but to be aware of that content you'd still need to know who he is, to be able to follow him. Mentioning his TV "show" is just embarrassing. It's really poor.

No, no he's not.

Er no, that sample of 1000 krauts probably wouldn't have a clue who either of them are.

Lol, it's banter when the forum is quiet.

tbh I haven't watched Shmee since the whole keyed Ferrari fiasco.

Agreed, first to recognise the name wins!

Shmee has sold more McLaren's than their F1 campaign.
