The mechanic who fixed it showed me the old one: one end had become completely unfixed. He thought it could have been loose, then blown off under boost...which chimes EXACTLY with what my lad said, he was driving it, put his foot down to overtake a lorry and there was a noise like a cork flying out and then no power.

He thought it might have had a knock, as he also found the cover inside the bumper displaced and the bottom rubber splitter had been refitted with self-tappers.

I enquired from both lads, and one doesn't drive it, the other would tell me immediately if he'd had any sort of problem, as he's like that.

So we are left with a bodge job at the selling dealer which has come back to bite me.

As they do.......

Fixed but not recorded on insurance you think?

Regards mine, it was approx £650 for DPF gutting and an Evolution Chips remap. Only smokes when I hammer my right foot down. I dunno for Vauxhalls, I don't personally like them having had a few Astra/Corsa courtesy cars over the years (that's my 'alcazar car luck' kicking in).
So that would have added £250 to my job price:eek:

Mine will get regenerated, Rosie will use it 20 miles each way to work occasionally.

As for the Arse-stra, I'd be interested in whether you could keep up with me....?

Straight 0-60, or 0-70? I doubt it.

Other way round, Jeff, I'm afraid. Mapped it's running around 280/435ish. Possibly a bit more with the restrictive DPF gone.

Thanks for the giggle though

On what insurance? If they repaired it, no need.

They just haven't done it properly, I reckon. Prob hit a pheasant or summats, never noticed the misaligned intercooler, we didn't until it blew out:(:(

Oh, and having the dpf gutted? Don't you just KNOW that yours, truly, would be the one whose car failed because the MoT tester spotted it? I mean, seriously???

Better? More experienced given you're twice my age and falling to pieces.

But your "maybe mapped" cdti won't keep up. Sorry. And I'm not particularly interested in proving you wrong to be honest as there is no point I'm afraid.

Why you're willy waving or boasting this/that over a family hatchback is beyond me. Crack on :thumb:

I dunno, I haven't seen it on your car have I? I hazard if you used a particular garage I did, you'd have little issue.
