Any fellow Note 4 owners got the Marshmallow update yet?

Mine has become unbearable on Lollipop now so I either wait for Marshmallow or blast it back to KitKat.

stevebt 29 April 2016 03:53 PM

I got the Marshmallow update ages ago and it stopped any over heating the phone used to have

An0n0m0us 30 April 2016 09:28 PM

How did you get that for the Note 4 as it's not available OTA yet in the UK by the looks of it?

How has battery life been compared to Lollipop?

Galifrey 03 May 2016 04:30 PM

The N910C version is out but not the N910F

stevebt 03 May 2016 05:46 PM

Mine is the f model and it was a software update thru the phone

An0n0m0us 03 May 2016 11:15 PM

Not even Sam Mobile has the firmware listed for the F model, it hasn't been released yet for the 910F.

I think i'm going to have to give in and do this now as i'm fed up waiting for Mashmallow to be released.

Does it still get OTA updates pop up after you have reverted back or does the process of rooting etc mark the system as tampered with and you lose the ability to receive further updates? I had that problem with the S3 even with clearing the flag the rooting and messing with bootloaders/roms meant it could no longer receive OTA updates.

Marshmallow is better as it uses the "dose" function to hibernate unused apps/services. I get mammoth battery life on my s7e

An0n0m0us 04 May 2016 01:59 PM

I was getting up to 4 days on my Note 4 with Kitkat when it was a brand new battery where as now lollipop has started making it overheat and drain the battery in about 10 hours with very light use. Might have to put my faith in Helium backup copy it off the phone once backed up then do a factory reset and restore to see if that helps.

bioforger 04 May 2016 02:27 PM

4 days! wish i could get that on any device with a large screen to be honest. What were you doing or not doing on it, letting it idle for 2 days? ;)

On the s5 with lollipoop i used to get, at best, 3-4hrs SOT and 2 days uptime (if lucky). On the s7e i get similar uptime, but 6-7hrs SOT, heavy usage for me.

An0n0m0us 04 May 2016 02:33 PM

Lol yep the 4 days was very light usage but it was a full 4 days which I was really impressed with, it did 3 days with moderate use. Kitkat definitely suited the Note 4. Lollipop clearly doesn't, best I had out of lollipop was 2 days and has just gone down hill since then.

bioforger 04 May 2016 02:40 PM

Probably a rogue app i reckon, a factory reset maybe the solution as you say, it has worked for me in the past. Sometimes just a data cache delete has worked as well. To be honest i wouldn't go back to kitkat in your shoes, due to security flaws.

I used to have the Note 4, i'd say i'm getting better battery life from my Note 5 running Marshmallow. The Note 5 battery is actually slightly smaller in capacity than the Note 4's, Marshmallow is probably contributing to better battery performance. I get a full day from the battery which i'd say is medium usage, general things like youtube, using maps for navigation, emails, web browsing, using various apps etc etc

I can drag that out to 2 days from the battery if i just do things like emails, web browsing and using the odd app etc. Marshmallow seems good, i didn't like the bigger icons at first, now i like them.

You could always use 'Nova launcher' to alter layout and size of icons

Cheers Andy, yeh i already have Nova installed. It was more at first the icons in marshmallow seemed a bit big, i got used to them and now i prefer them that way.

Interesting, haven't got it on mine yet.

An0n0m0us 06 May 2016 09:38 PM

It's not listed on Sam Mobile which means it isn't out yet for the F so no idea how Steve has got it on his.

Indeed, that's what I thought.

Galifrey 12 May 2016 01:51 PM

Marshmallow has just shown up on my update list, downloading now will let you know how it goes on my Note 4 910F

An0n0m0us 12 May 2016 02:25 PM

Nice and that's typical I wiped mine yesterday and factory reset Lollipop. I hope you find it good and mine gets it soon.

An0n0m0us 12 May 2016 03:46 PM

You are lucky to get it so quickly as it looks as though today is the first day of the roll out for the F:

Mine doesn't find any updates yet.

bioforger 12 May 2016 03:51 PM

Is it on sammobile for your model yet? If so, just get it n flash it via odin, rather than over the air.

An0n0m0us 12 May 2016 04:06 PM

I'm stubborn and like to sit there waiting for it OTA :lol1: It is s0dding typical though I waited all this time and yesterday spent hours backing my phone up, wiping it and restoring it for the update to then come out today

Galifrey 12 May 2016 06:13 PM

Install went fine, other than a few icon changes cannot see much has changed looks wise. Icons look more like Apple ones now /bleugh

Seems better so far, doesn't seem to get as hot, except when running maps.

An0n0m0us 13 May 2016 08:17 PM

OK cheers, mine still isn't seeing the update yet. However since factory resetting mine it's running cool and battery life much improved was at 70% mid afternoon when it had been running out by then. Still tempted to go back to Kitkat for the mamoth battery life.

An0n0m0us 16 May 2016 11:36 PM

Still no sign of it on mine  Is yours branded or on BTU firmware? You on Vodafone by any chance?

Galifrey 17 May 2016 06:07 AM

Was purchased from Vodafone but on BT Network now.

Looks like a vodafone build as it has their app pre-installed.
