Newbaru, theres currently 2 low mileage widetrack blue blobs on autotrader unmolestered, mind both are extremely expensive

I was thinking of parting with mine but looking at the prices that there going for at the minute I think I'll hang on to it as the unmodified widetracks are well holding there value ;)

Yet there are bargains to be had - my lad picked up a 1997 version 3 STI - A tiny amount of rust on one wheel arch - plenty of tasteful mods - Full Decat, Induction kit etc......110k on the clock for £1900...........runs like a dream and when its was put on the rollers churned out 302 / 253.............does only 100 miles a week

Ah yeah, I was only looking up to 9k but see now there are a couple with 65k+ on for around the 11k mark. When you say they are expensive do you reckon they are overpriced? Its hard to tell what the going rate is. Every now and then a decent car pops up at a reasonable price but then some dealers will have utter tat sat on autotrader at £££££ for months and months

I'd say £11k for one with 65k miles is too expensive as I've seen ones with far less go for around the £9 to £10k mark. If I were to advertise mine I'd be pitching round the £9-9.5 mark with 50k on it. But I agree prices are all over the place at the min, some nice cars going for peanuts then utter tat for thousands it's unreal :/

Tbh dude i dont know. This time last year i didnt have the cash ready but there were lots for sale for even as low as £8k but averaging £9k-£10k (for a high specced one).
Now i have the cash ready they are all even more expensive, and not only that there are hardly any for sale and all seem a million miles away from me.
Im such a fussy car owner i cant bring myself to drive 200 miles to a dealer (i never trust any dealer - lots of bad experiences) to find out the car is no good.

That's a bloody good point, they'd never get a clamp on there or be able to pick it up with a grab lorry.

It looks ok but not to my taste, it's got a look of fast and furious thing about it if that's your thing fair enough but I'm an OEM type of guy. That's why it took me nearly a year to find an unmodified example, which is why I'm thinking more and more to hang on to mine as I can't see it loosing value as long as I keep it OEM :)

I've got a very heavily modified one, in fact I'm nervous about posting pics of it on SNET. :D and a standard STI RA so best of both worlds. :thumb:

Yeah I can see the appeal of that look too but am very much in agreement with regards keeping cars OEM but they are hard to find standard and well worth hanging on to if you can get one...

I would never pull down someone's modified example (unless it truly is horrendous) it's just not my thing, or many others as I found out when looking for one a few year ago, it's always tempting to sell up when prices are high but I do still truly enjoy my car and can't think of a replacement that offers the same enjoyment for the same or similar money :)

05' STi's in blue are hard to come by full stop! But most are standard, it seems most people who own these particular models like to keep them unmodified.
I work in a bodyshop so im seriously considering buying a silver or black one and repainting it blue! I dont really want to do that though, but feel like its soon going to be my only option. There are some awesome silver ones with a great spec and low mileage that come up for sale for far less money than the blue ones. Typical really.

I get people on at me all the time with the 'just have it mapped' or 'how can you be happy with 300BHP when it's capable of 350+' but it's well capable at 300 and in my eyes was how it was meant to be, I'd rather spend any money on keeping it A1 and replacing any ageing parts like for like with new ones to keep it fresh and that 'brand new factory feel' does it for me ;)

I found the opposite when I was looking, most were blue and for me it was a bit 'in your face' which is why I went for the Crystal Gray and I must say its aged superb and still looks almost as good as when it it came out the factory. I looked at a few 'mint' examples various colours when I was looking that were far from mint in my opinion but I'm fussy which is why it took so long to find, lol!

I have to completely agree with you there. Colour has never really bothered me that much. I think they look great in pretty much any colour (although everyone else I know seems to think they are the ugliest cars on the road). I've only ever driven a Hawk Sti without prodrive and to me that felt absolutely savage. 300bhp from a PPP blob sounds plenty for me! What did you drive before you got the scoob?

Well directly before I had a Corsa Diesel, runabout but that was just a put me on till I found the 'right scoob' The proper car I had was an Astra GSi Turbo with around 200bhp which felt 'fast' but nothing in comparison to the scoob. My brother has a 400bhp Evo and that is savage, I prefer my subtle scoob :)

04 WRX PPP Wagon with 1 previous owner and full service history (inc cambelt and tensioner last year) from my local subaru main dealer 4890 with 69k. Got reasonable money on my PX too... picking up tomorrow and stoked!

At present it would seem that supply outstrips demand by a long way, that wasn't the case 18 months when Pistonheads, Autotrader, Ebay etc etc was flooded with all different Impreza models.

Now because of this, people are paying what was back then "silly money" just to get their hands on an a clean Impreza and I can only see prices continuing to rise.

Thanks jay, I'm no expert but thats also the feeling I get from what other people are saying.

I'm not saying this is the bargain of the century but whilst I respect everyone's opinion I am happy with what I'm getting for my cash

"Quay vehicle solutions" have advertised a nice looking 05' widetrack blob sti for £11k on autotrader...
Well this car was up for sale by another dealer for £9k just a few days ago in London. I just missed out on it actually.

So not only are dealers snapping up private sale scoobs and slapping a hefty increase on it, they are now doing it to other dealers....
This is getting ridiculous now and is just going to push prices up and up.
