I went down the tactrix/romraider/ecuflash route and as long as you read plenty, make small changes, log/analyse, then read some more, you will be just fine.
my lc-1 and tactrix 1.3 arrived today need to buy a car now that it will work on haha |

So basically what you're saying is you CANNOT map a car unless someone with more experience shows you?
Thats a bit chixken and the egg isnt it? How dd the raved about mappers learn? Do you have any experience of mapping cars? Cheers who says they have learned? lol i dont have the experiance, i have asked plenty of questions to understand whats involved and the proccess, but my lack of knowledge and experiance is why i leave it to the pro's :) when it works as it should then it's not that hard to learn, its when things go wrong or unexpected things happen when settings are changed that the experiance comes into it. Maps vary wildly from car to car with scoobs, a map from one doesnt work on another so be carefull what you do and to what cars :thumb: |
If you struggle to find software to work with the 1.3 tactrix give us a shout as the latest stuff doesn't always work with 1.3

Nice little start to the DIY mapping tooling

Can you confirm its the proper cable and what does the extra block do? http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1lucmzbd.jpg |
I think John hits the nail on the head when he refers to taking a standard car with a standard map and tweaking from there. I make small adjustments and then log data to see where I am heading. I don't think you need to be sat with a mapper to learn, you just need to know how to interpret the data you see. I tinkered with my last classic and even though I thought I had made some good progress with a leaner mixture, more ign and a little more boost I saw a drop in airflow.
I for one fully expect to destroy my current engine at some stage. Eggs and omelettes. |
The block is for use with a flash wire.

I take it romraider will point me asto what wire is connected to it then??
Or can you fill me in on the info haha I can see it getting choppe ad a bullet connecter being used instead of buying te part from america |
It's for plugging into the flash connector block on the wiring looms on evo's, scooby's have a different type of flash connector blocks.

O god, here we go again.
last person i know who did this ended up blowing up 7 of the 20 cars he mapped, takes years to learn under the wing of someone who knows what there doing, even some of the raved about mappers are totaly rubbish when you actualy go a look at what there doing and how the cars they map turn out. |
