HAve to say thats not far off the truth, (TDI) through work i have spoken to Joe Macari who runs a 360 Modena race GT team, his advise re the nurburgh ring was fly to colne hire a golf TDI and that is the best type of car to learn the circuit, he spent 2 days driving a 110 ps golf around nurburgh to learn the circuit and reckons TDI's Rock, nbot too fasdt not too slow!. Which pleased me no end as scene as i now drive a VAG TDI

Martin-STI 21 October 2006 09:12 AM

The Ring was great and I got passed by everything at times.:luxhello:

It all depends on the driver not the car. The fella in the WRX did say that he wished he had a bit more power for the straights and for getting out of the corners.

As for the fella at work going on about TDI he just doesnt have the balls to drive his own car around there and part of the crack is the trip over and back.:hjtwofing

So Martin you will be up for trips out and possible trackday?? Oh yes WE ALL KNOW YOU DRIVE A SEAT IBIZA Which is a Cheap Golf, even cheaper Audi...................
Just runs off the tongue that when asked what you drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When ASH went out in the Mini he was buzzing how fast it was going around The Ring and that was a hire car too.

Actually he runs a team and races his ferrai 360 modena GT at the ring and Le Mans ETC:hjtwofing :hjtwofing , he was saying the TDI was the best car to learn the ring in!

http://www.motorsport.com/photos/lem...4h-eg-1109.jpg

But as you say if you fly over and hire a car you miss out on the jouney there!!

moneys 21 October 2006 12:50 PM

Now now boys we all know the fastest car in the world is a hire car no matter what make or model it is:norty: i drove a ford ka hire car once and every time i came to a corner the back brakes locked and i spun round , then it would always wheel spin away:wonder: dont know what the problem was :lol1:

Too right it is ste, I went to a Hillclimb school at Harewood a couple of years ago, and the fastest guy there was driving a mondeo hire car (he had crashed his own car the week before and decided to come anyway!) :)

scoobyverysoon 21 October 2006 07:03 PM
