came into work this morning, just off the a19 roundabout, steering went a bit light, figured it was some diesel or such?

3/4 secs latter, loud grumbling noise

stopped the car, FNS wheel at a funny angle, jacked it up, and gave it a wiggle, arse the wheel bearing has collapsed

i am less then 1/4 mile from work, easy i will just drive slow and damage a set of front brake pads, errr nope, 3/4 secs after that the fooken cv joint has snapped, the hub nut has fallen off and the wheel is locked

recovered back to my parents house, looks like i am spending the evening after work taking things apart

looks like it needs

hub bearing
cv joint
brake disc
pads
probably tracking as well

good job it never fell apart on the a19 as i was moving a bit "fast"

StickyMicky 03 September 2006 12:01 PM

also lost the leggys wheel centre cap and cant find it anywhere :freak3:

richiewong 03 September 2006 02:38 PM

SSSHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTT:eek:

You and your CV joints:rolleyes:

Anyone know who's dring around in a white preface lift classic with orange graphics?
Passed them today near Blaydon and only caught a glimpse so didn't wave:brickwall

StickyMicky 03 September 2006 03:11 PM

i know

i hate doing cv joints as well TBH, they are a dirty PITA
will ring alyn up tomorrow and see if i can get the hub and shaft dropped off over his way. will source some new brake discs and pads on the way home :eek:the only thing holding the wheel on at the moment is the calliper

need to book a taxi to take me home from work today, cant be arsed to walk to the metro station :lol1:

getting the car onto the flatbed truck was intresting with a wheel hanging off :cuckoo:

I'm doing Well Lane on Sunday, but will have a look in if we are finished early

Martin

SUBTYPER 07 September 2006 12:31 AM

Hi everyone will be at Well lane on Sunday, my mate just got a Leggy estate trubo and is coming down aswell any convoy going to well lane, hope we can call in at elvington aswell on the way back sounds like a canny day of fun to be had.

Wow Mickey could of been fatal at speed, we had 5 alloy wheels nuts fail on the rally car and the wheel fell of as we were aproaching a flat crest into medium right and got a bit hairy, managed to dent the wing and brakethe wheel, Just a cautionary note to anybody tempting to use alloy wheel nuts, they are **** and to be avoided.

Hi Martin did you manage to get in touch with chris Mann and get me and my mate confirmed for Sunday.

Hows everybody else doing?

Does anybody want some brand new pure slick tyres in 16Inch fitment got these of a mate but are no use for tarmac rallying as we have to use a moulded slick so best offer for some ultimate track day weapons for your beloved beasts. Can deliver within reasonable distance or meet at well lane or elvington.

Ninnybobs 07 September 2006 08:01 AM

Hi John,

You are confirmed at Well lane on Sunday

Would you like to meet at Scotch Corner at 8:00am

interesting john, we have used nothing but alloy nuts on our own ans customers cars for over 10yrs, never had a failure and never lost one....................maybe they were too cheap?? what make were they??

alyn

StickyMicky 07 September 2006 09:42 AM

i do remember reading a thread in projects, that mentioned alloy nuts and i believe somebody questioned one of the manufacturers regarding life.

from what i remember they never gave a proper answer and replied that some people use them for one season and some people use them for one rally only>?

EVOLUTION 07 September 2006 12:02 PM

anyone heard anything about the Rallying aorund the Otterburn area this weekend, any one got any info?
