Glad I didn't buy a set off you now !! At least my existing terrible doors were cheap :D

Surely a company can come up with a solution for this, an 'add on' (which I'm assuming the zen car will have on the doors) of a partial frame to allow light weight windows to be fitted without them popping out.

2 door car available for R+D;)

911 22 March 2008 06:48 PM

I've seem frameless doors with 'sub frames' of alloy tube (ie 6mm dia) crossed to very good stiffening effect in the door shell, with a light tube to the top of a static plastic window to look a bit like a quarter light frame. At the rear edge, the same thing but right on the rear vertical edge.
The window was very rigid and located to a soft rubber foam door seal (not the OEM one).
The window had a sliding hatch in the normal way.

Paul,
Hope you don't mind me asking, but how will the rear be firewalled, particularly around the hinges?

For info, I am helping Mike Payne and Zak prepare Mike’s TA car.

Cheers

Due to the pressure of work, and keeping my sanity, we have decided to run the 2007 car for the donnington round of Time Attack. However, due to a rule clarification, we will not score any points at Donnington. So in effect to have any chance overall this year, we will have to win the remaining 5 events!

Woohoo!

minty 26 March 2008 02:57 PM

That Sucks

R&D time then at Donny.

The 2008 car needs to be as good as we are all hoping it will be then, good luck with the other 5 events then guys :thumb:

Neil.. 26 March 2008 03:11 PM

And the problem with that is....?? :wonder:

Good luck with the testing today, hope its running well:thumb:

Even if we win at donno, we can't use the 20 points if we change the car.

may sound silly but would it not be an idea to run the car for the whole season in that case? then you could back off a bit on the new car and not have a mental breakdown?

minty 26 March 2008 06:44 PM

i cant wait until next season to see the car :( i was hoping to see it in the flesh a donny

i guess there are a lot of changes and ideas that this car will bring with it that Zen dont really want to keep until next year.

how many did you win by last year is a 5 from 5 giving you a chance of winning???

I guess a lot depends upon the others, if RC have made any improvements on the gobstopper etc.

If the weather keeps up you will be better with a Boat around Donny anyway :p

Andy T 26 March 2008 06:46 PM

Sorry to hear this mate, I personally know how much effort you guys+gal have put into the new car and how many hours have been spent trying to meet the deadlines.

Hey after all the effort in Japan and last year in gereral at least you know the car.

Chin up and here's to "olde bluey". :luxhello:

I was referring to the challenge of winning the other 5 rounds....

Like I said.....and the problem is...? :D

scouse2 26 March 2008 07:03 PM

Its good to see you are going to give people a head start:lol1:
hows that for confidence:D
nah just kidding keep up the good work it will pay off honest:)

johnfelstead 26 March 2008 07:08 PM

With the points the way they are this year with you scoring 20 points for a win, then 1 point less each place down to 20th, one DNS and you can as good as forget the championship.

You must love the pressure as now you have to win at Donny in the old car to keep the top scoring points away from the competition to give yourself more of a chance of winning overall with just 5 rounds! :)

Looks like this is the sensible option. Someone could probably write a program to analyse all the different points scenarios which may prove we could still win with a 0 score at Donny but in the absence of that (;)) I think we need to assume we can't win!

The blue car is a proven package, so lets see what we can do with it for 2008! You can't keep a good team down!

Of course you can still win but there are far too many possible scenarios to consider apart from one really simple one, every other competitor scores 0 points in at least one other round, 5 "legal" wins would then give you the title:) Unfortunately I do fear that exemplary reliability from one of the other top runners would make it nigh on impossible though.:(

V4JDMSTi 27 March 2008 12:33 PM

bit of a silly question, but what do you get for winning?

Andy T 27 March 2008 12:33 PM

Just knocked up a quick spreadsheet. working on worse case scenario, excluding any fastest lap points etc.

Andy T 27 March 2008 12:38 PM

stupid spreadsheet, think you get the idea ?

johnfelstead 27 March 2008 12:42 PM

Team A scores a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th. They score 106 points with the 1 extra point for fastest lap from their win.

Team B score 5 wins and 5 fastest laps, one DNS. They score 105 points.

That should put into perspective what your odds are on winning with a non score, 50/50 at best. :lol1:

And GIANT respect from the 'Community'.

Winning is very important from a commercial and team satisfaction (not always in that order), but i personally hope the new 3 door will break ground when sorted mid season.

I feel for all the Big Biuld teams out there, such very hard work esp at this stage of the year.
