I quite fancy the 650bhp conversion for 39k I will have to get saving. S4it I bet one of these goes like as absolute rocket anyone have any times for one of these weapon's 650 brake in my old shed LOL. What fun

LG John 24 September 2002 04:52 PM

39k as in 39 thousand pounds!?!?! Surely not??!? Would this not blow your bangs for bucks theory right out the water. I'm 99% sure I'm misunderstanding something here, but, why would anyone spend that kind of money on a saph cossie!

LG John 24 September 2002 04:52 PM

Maybe there is a . missing :D

co55ie 24 September 2002 05:10 PM

Yep 39K have a look at the turbo systems site and dream Saxo Boy, the link is posted above.
It costs 12k to get 380bhp out of an evo and 1.5k on a cossie.
Maybe oneday you can step up to some serious power to saxo sell your current shed and buy a saff you will wish you had done it years ago.

Alberick 24 September 2002 05:36 PM

12k to get 380 bhp out of an Evo?

Well I think you just know this one place (somewhere in the UK in an overpriced shop), in Japan they don't cost that much and 380 bhp out of an Evo is not that difficult, keeping in mind that they're already having 300 standard....

To give you one example from a tuner i know quite good 400000 yen (lets say 4000 Euro to round it up) for a full HKS power up for the Impreza running at circa 350 bhp afterwards.

So please don't always come up with this one same example if you don't know other places...

LG John 24 September 2002 05:41 PM

OMG!!! You'd actually spend £39,000 on an old saph cossie (granted it'll be quick as hell) as opposed to buy a brand new M3 with all the trimming (taking account of your cars value) or a lovely second hand 911 (notwithstanding you don't like porkas) Your mental!!

Also, £39k is not 'affordable' performance in my opinion!

I fully plan on Ferrari, TVR, Porka ownership at some point in life. Dreams and the moment but you never know :D

TonyBurns 24 September 2002 05:46 PM

Even RC developements only charge 5k for 400bhp from an Evo  and how much did the Ralliart zero fighter cost? (380bhp car) less than 12k extra i can tell ya ;)
For 39k i think you could buy a decent skyline and get the best part of 800bhp out of it ;):D

Tony:D

2wdcossie 24 September 2002 06:13 PM

why would anyone spend that kind of money on a saph cossie!
to make it THE fastest one on the road :D

no doubt you could do this far cheaper than 39k but would it last more than one run?

please bear in mind this is the entire car, brakes, suspension, drivetrain etc not just the engine alone.

the point i was making by posting the link and pics is that tony has been doing your "antiquated" ;) t4 8 inj set up for soooo long now, thats all, worth a call to chat to someone with so much knowledge, dont expect things for free tho ;)

matt

co55ie 24 September 2002 06:21 PM

The evo prices were sourced from the Power engineering site pretty respected tuners. I am sure you can get it to 380 brake alot cheaper but then how long is it going to last and this price didn't include all the other upgrades needed like brakes suspension etc.

WoIfie 24 September 2002 08:26 PM

cossie have u spoken to cossie clint from rsoc bb he does loads of chips and upgrades never heard a bad word ect ect

TonyBurns 24 September 2002 08:48 PM

Co55ie,
The Zero Fighter was a Ralliart car and they tuned it (with everything else as they do all the Mitsubishi tuning ;)) and sold it as such.
It was fairly expensive but also very reliable ;) (plus 380bhp ;))

Tony:D

timisaledge 24 September 2002 09:43 PM

was readin on evo net which was taken of the RSBB board 2 scoobies getting into the 9 second 1/4 mile times now that is impressive, "Yesterday's SuperNats at Eastern Creek saw both the C&V Performance WRX and Bakkar's DBRONX WRX both run in the 9's. It was great to finally see these guys get what they'd be after for so long. Both of their cars ran 9.8's, with the C&V car driven by Vic reeling off the numbers twice. For the record, I believe that the best C&V run was 9.85 @ 141 mph and DBRONX's best run was a 9.88 @ 139 mph. Either way, it's great to see that after all of their hard work, they've finally got into those single digits. Many people just don't realise how hard it is to get a car, with a small displacement motor, into the single digits. To cap it all off, it was also done at probably the worst drag strip in the country, as Eastern Creek is notorious for its bad surface. Everyone is waiting for the next track to open early next year" any1 else read this

co55ie 24 September 2002 10:29 PM

These are excellent times very impressive. Sub 10 runs are very difficult and very costly to achieve.
Tony I really fancy an EVO but am allways put off because I know I would get bored with it fairly rapidly and want to mod it etc but the cost is prohibitive at the moment but prices are dropping this is one of the main reasons I went for a cossie in the first place.
The car you mention is supposedly awesome and the spec is amazing I have never actually seen one in the flesh.

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 25 September 2002 02:00 AM

There is no way that the white sierra at TOTB had over 500bhp. It was way too slow. As for the event at the end of october, it isnt 10 of the best, as they are letting everyone run ( including crap cars ), not invite only as per TOTB. Its simply a Run what ya brung. While it may be true, I have never heard of a road legal Skyline doing 7 sec qtr miles. The japs are mad, but that borders on ridiculous. And Co55ie, you are saying your car is faster than a McClaren F1?? 0-60 2.9 secs??? 0-100 7 secs?? I'll believe it when I see it.

co55ie 25 September 2002 11:09 AM

No i didn't say my car was faster than a McClaren F1.
Rapid ones 4 by 4 saff did a 2.9 0 - 60 at rs day
And another cossie recently did a 7.6 0 - 100
If you don't believe me some of the vid's are downloadable on the drivteoish site.
Have a look at the Blitz site for skyline info and learn to read.

2wdcossie 25 September 2002 02:48 PM

i think you'll find it definately does have 500+. slow??? it made 177.1 mph ffs, that was the fastest cossie on the day wasnt it?

this power run was on lo boost just under 2 bar, they turned it down cos it broke the rollings roads (john noble motorsport in chesterfield) 2.5 bar guage on hi. i was there and watched this happen before you doubt anything.

Derek Burleigh 25 September 2002 03:19 PM

Interesting that you think my Cossie was slow at TOTB.
As it made highest top speed of the Cossies on the day then I presume you weren't impressed by any of the Cossies then????

We did that speed with a slight misfire in 5th gear as well. Datalogged a run and found ACT sensor fault. Fixed that and shredded the crown whell on the next run when it came on boost in 3rd gear.

A quick note on the prices that you are all quoting from the Turbosystems site. Those prices for the big hp cars are assuming that you go in with a bog standard car and come out with a car with the stated hp (approx) including all the necessary ancillaries such as brakes, suspension etc.

2wdcossie 25 September 2002 03:22 PM

ECHO ECHO

ive already said that del :p

Redkop 25 September 2002 03:40 PM

Matt/Del - ustolemyname could be getting confused with Tib's car - he stood in at last minute - remember? There again his car wasn't slow by any means - even if he didn't have 500+ bhp

[Edited by Redkop - 9/25/2002 3:41:42 PM]

2wdcossie 25 September 2002 03:48 PM

true lynne, tibs is what 330 hp? 400? dunno defo aint in dels league anyhows.

Oh yeah, sorry!

Lynne,

What you doing on here? How's the Escy now? Running OK?

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 25 September 2002 04:10 PM

I was at TOTB, and while I never saw all the cars run. The video highlights one race in particular with the rwd Focus claiming 500bhp against a white sierra. The focus did mess up a gearchange or something, but after that, the rate at which it was catching the sierra, makes me think it had at least another 100bhp or so more than the sierra. Top speed doesnt necessarily mean it has loads of power. A couple of subarus did around 166, with only about 350bhp.
I can appreciate however that things do go wrong, and with modified cars, it usually goes wrong at the worst times. ( when racing )

2wdcossie 25 September 2002 04:49 PM

the graph proves the power and it ran more boost at elvington. i think you must be on about another saph cos (tib's).

high top speed is a good indication of power, if you were to plot the power outputs of the cars on the list above i think you'll find most of the top hp cars got the top speeds and vice versa.

bear in mind the drag factors too when thinking about top speeds.

Andy B...f*ck you...:p..Damn been wanting to say that for ages..;)

Derek if you had run a FSE power boost valve...you would have cracked 190....:D..Plus you should have 8 greens...better economy and way adequate for that mere 466bhp..:p

Oh its like the old days...:D

Mate try putting nearly 600 bhp through your car...

it would pull the chassis apart - rather than just blowing a diff!

I see no comments about the skylines though... worried your little 250bhp baked bean tin couldn't 'quite' beat that

pmsl my sides are killing me with laughter ,sorry to who's car he is on about, just can't stop laughing :D

btw, Norris evo is the bollox and one of the best about ;) and yes i am a cossie owner saying that ;)
