Hi Les,

I think I looked but cant remember for the life of me what it was. Either that it was the letters on the turbo (memory is about a good as my engine). Worst case I wait till I get the car back I suppose. Just fancy getting shot of the octane booster posing.

Cheers,
Marky

Alrighty guys!

Tweenierob - Les says you thoroughly recommend the Dawes manual boost controller - is it reliable is my only query? Also, yes have a few pics courtesy of Les when the previous owner Guy had it. Jeff has contacted me already and I've updated the ownership name.

Symon - excellent results there! Thats a scorcher - if you get a print out send it to me and I can add to the site. I was always worried about taking mine on the rollers incase of the worst.....then my engine RIP'd anyway. Best of luck eh?? LOL!!

Dyney - I think this is the one Exess was talking to me about a wee while back, but he didnt know the number of the car. Shame, but hey accidents happen - bet theres a few more been trashed over in Japan. Chieftains was whipped for his driveway by stealing his keys from in house - whilst he slept in it!!! Terrible.

Folks, - just realised that its only a few weeks until the 1st year of the register. Time flies eh? (rose tinted specs on/] I remember when this thread was only a page long........ [/rose specs off]

Cheers guys,
Marky-San

Marky-San 09 December 2003 01:12 PM

Cheers mate - appreciated!

U WOT! 09 December 2003 03:47 PM

I've just brought a red one. L reg. Don't worry me by saying that, don't say someone else has the same number as me?

Marky-San 09 December 2003 04:30 PM

Alright mate, simple answer do you have 58 of 100/200? Yours should be 200 as I have the 058/100 on the register - see earlier pages for the link to my website (or look in my profile for the link). On the 100 register is 058 - a silver saloon that SB has been trying to sell. If we have 2 100's then we've got a serious problem.

Let me know what one you've got.

Cheers,
Marky-San

tweenierob 10 December 2003 03:27 PM

Loved the Dawes, out of the 5 or so electronic controllers i tried, Dawes was a close 2nd for boost control..
Obviously you dont have the same 'in car' control like the elecronic but it held boost better and spooled up better than all but one of the Electronic Bc's..

R.

U WOT! 10 December 2003 04:15 PM

Right, serious problem time. Mine says 58/100. Did you have the pics of the other one, including the plate inside. This can't be good

Marky-San 10 December 2003 08:03 PM

This definately aint a good sign!! I can't believe we have a 2nd car - what a potential disaster here. There are 3 scenarios I can think off:

1. Just trying to think if its possible that there is more that one '100' and '200' run. No 63 of 200 was supposed to be a Wagon, but the owner couldnt provide any proof of this or a car picture - the other 63/200 red saloon with pictures is on the site.

2. The other obvious question is one of them is not a proper car - which is also a terrible situation.

U WOT - do you have the engine bay plaque, cerise ended strut brace, hoop style spoiler (although a good visual one, isnt fool proof), STI embroidered seats, cerise stitched gear knob. The only other clue is the ECU - most cars had the SB code on them in pink writing - again, not fool proof. Do all your engine/chassis codes match up with the original run - I'll try and dig out the link for this. Pictures would help as well if possible.

Obviously these questions need to be put to the other 58 owner.

3. The other one off course is that there has been a registering problem with the car and they've mistakenly made 2 of the same number (its a possibility however slight).

You can look at the pictures of silver 58 using this link:

Original STI Register - click here!!

This is a great shame as its probably ruining your new ownership in someway - dont let it till we get some more info on the table.

I'll go see if I can dig out the link for the chassis no.s etc.

Hello Tweenierob - can you get your mate to post pictures to me of 134/200 as this one is on the register already, and I'm reliably informed that 134 isnt sold. Just slightly concerned with the 58 and now a possible 134 situation all within the last 2 weeks.

Thanks,
Mark

Leslie 14 December 2003 09:51 AM

Thanks for the email Marky-I'll pass it on to Guy.

Hello Mark, have taken over ownership of 97/100-steve saw the light-shes a thirsty beast mind you have replaced lamda now for mot and reduce emmissions from 12% to 0%! but alas mpg not a lot better.Would like to change/upgrade few things -would like more rubber/more suspension!presently 17 khanns-wrong offset?,poss decat and definatly better brakes scared to many innocent motorists-how did they get away with putting these on as standard. Mainly intrested in preserving what ive got though, first time impreza owner car seems standard been in country 2 years dont know bout cambelt, ecu rest-and wether i should have knockmeter as a minimum -all suggestions gratfully received Duncan

My mate has just bought himself one of these originals it's no89/100. The only problem is he has bought it from a breakers as its been written off. He's repairing it though and it is starting to look nice again.

Graybr 16 December 2003 12:03 AM

Hi all, as discussed in an earler tread ive bought a MY96 wrx v limited, ive got the embroidered seats, how ever have not got a plaque, it was there as i can see the rivet holes/indents. On the model list mine doesnt appear as a V Lim so god knows what i have?

http://www.showoffyourcar.com/cars/1684.JPG

Please help, what other ways are there to find out and also how do i go about getting a new plaque??

Beaker_1 16 December 2003 09:16 AM

Hmmm A little concerning to say the least where is the other 134 based ?

mine has the Sti plaque still with most of the plastic cover over it so couldnt have been ammended
all Chassis numbers match up
sti stiched seats
sti Gear knob
Sti Steering wheel
the sti water spray
the sti Strut brace
the Sti Spoiler
the Sti badging on the Spoiler
the Sti exhaust
the sti stickers

i know some of them are visual and can be brought but everything on the Car looks factory fit !

are there anyother checks i Can make ?

One option is to check the turbo to IC pipe : on a standard WRX this is rubber, on the STI it's metal. Should be able to feel around between the IC and turbo for the pipe I mention.

As ever, it's possible to upgrade to the metal pipe, but not everyone knows about them, so ...

;)

Beaker_1 16 December 2003 09:50 AM

and this is the same for the Sti 1's

will check tonight.
