Yes, see scoobyshop for details :)

I got one of these modded chips and got to say awsome much smoother and well noticable compared to standard as I have mine on a switch so I can revert back to STD ECU to save fuel.....although I don't think I have switched it back yet :)
Cheers Scott !

I'm having a bit of a Homer lapse at the moment "Doh" and I can't find the My94/95 Ecu upgrade

Could someone please point me in the right direction;)

Thanks Huxley

E-Mail Scott I'm sure he'll sort you out, he's saving up for a rolling road.
You might want to open the ECU to see if you'll need a daughter board socket (this was so in my case and Scott sorted that out for a extra £5)

Advert in Scoobyshop was taken down before Christmas to be reworded.
Basically I beleive we now have a better idea of what the various WRX years and ECU Versions can be fitted with and hence have set about creating standard maps for each Model Year/ECU.

Well for the ones that I/we have encountered - V7, 7D, W6, W9, 2C, Z4, Z9 & 7K

It also highlights that this is not a 'personal mapping' service. If you want personal mapping and not 'Off-Shelf' maps then I'm afraid it's DIY, as the title of this thread states.

Fantastic, I was looking for that a couple of weeks back.

And the updated description answers all my questions, thanks guys.

Hackish,

What's the protocol for talking to an MY2000 ECU? I have an MY99 and would like to start communicating with it? I wonder whether they might be the same or similar?

Jon.

Nick200 26 January 2003 07:43 PM

UK MY97 ??? Any time in the future?

Omen 22 August 2003 08:51 PM

Just found this thread browsing and take it that a trip to PE for the phase 1 conversion is still the only way for a MY98 remap??

David_Wallis 23 August 2003 11:39 AM

It is.

Well it has been a lot of months. 8 months to settle with insurance. I retained the wreck and am still trying to find an STi front clip in good shape so I can get enough parts to replace everything in front of the frame rails.

The motor isn't as badly crunched as I thought but it does need 4 intake valves. Good news- the ECU wasn't dammaged!

I've been spending a lot of time on the PGMFI project as we're reprogramming the Honda PM6 ECU with lots of nifty features like launch control, boost cut and vtec control. I've definitely been away from my subie too long when I'm anxious to get vtec on my 108bhp car!

I do not recall the protocol for communicating with the MY2000 2.5RS ECU but I believe I got it off a japanese website. Which MCU are we using on the 1998 ECU? I assume it's one that has the code on it.

I may consider building an engine simulator and playing with this ECU. Unfortunately sometimes my time is better served by just buying a ready-made ECU... The honda thing I'm doing is fairly simple since the ECU has only about 17k of code in it.

OK, I'm hooked.

Where do you find the maps?

Rich

Just read this entire post due to AndrewC's comments in:

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=288545

4 headers W100/110/120/130 can be used to hook up external memory to the processor to make the ECU re-mappable ala PE Phase 1
Its sounds ideal to me only but did anyone ever get any where with the 97/98 JDM ECU?

David_Wallis 08 January 2004 05:08 PM

we've got a map..

Omen 08 January 2004 05:18 PM

A map for UK MY 97/98 without the need for PE 1? Or have i got the wrong end of something i dont quite understand?

AndrewC 08 January 2004 06:06 PM

I've got several maps...

David_Wallis 08 January 2004 06:20 PM

Andrew... any chance of a look :)

dr_jones 13 January 2004 02:23 PM

David / Andrew - any chance of supplying me with your '97/'98 maps?

David_Wallis 13 January 2004 02:59 PM

possibly.. whats it worth?

dr_jones 19 January 2004 12:59 PM

Weeeeell - It'd mostly be in the form of eternal gratitude at this stage - I've a lot to learn re this whole ECU remap business but I guess everyone started somewhere..

Yuri 27 January 2008 10:35 PM

OK guy's, did somebody find out at last if it's possible to flash/program a MY97/98 ECU, like its possible with the my99/00 ECU's?

Bob Rawle 28 January 2008 10:52 PM

It will be soon, watch this space.

cheers

Not much point IMHO with the SimTek offering much better features for not much more money....

Brit_in_Japan 29 January 2008 09:50 PM

This is the thread I'm been looking for (only 6 years late!).

Before I read though hundreds of posts a quick question, apart form going the ECUTEK route, is there any other way I can re-map my MY99 JDM WRX using open source or other third party software (something like INNOVATE, EcuFlash, Enginuity)? I think I should be able do data logging via EcuExplorer and a Tactrix cable, but from what I've found so far I'm limited after that.

Scott.T 03 February 2008 08:33 PM

Soz,
nothing available for MY99/00 other then ECUTEK.
If there was I would be using it by now....

For not much more money than what? If you are referring to my kit you are way off the mark.
