Awesome work! So today's efforts simply involved tightening up all of the nuts and bolts at the rear which in the main was straight forward except for one locking nut each side on the lateral arms - there's not enough room to get the 27mm spanner in so I'll need to get a cheap spanner and modify it:wonder: Also decided to replace the springs and fittings for the handbrake shoes but ended up using the old rusty retaining springs as the new ones where twice as long and just wouldn't compress enough for me to fit the snap washer over the pin:( Also fitted the new CDF rear droplinks with a set of stainless nuts and bolts rather than the suppled mild steel stuff:norty: Just need to get the handbrake cable retaining clips and I can drop it back down and go for a spin prior to getting the wheel alignment done:eek: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pswfypis8m.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psqxgbrnwq.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pswhfgxd1q.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psmw1cphq2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psiy0tzmuq.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psjo8pibkf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psh66mzd2d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pskyzpeukf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pswvufvhnb.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pskriugv9m.jpg And yes I know - it needs a clean:thumb: |
Looks great mate, love how good all the nuts and bolts look
|
Looks spot on mate :)
|
+1 on the mudflaps haven't got round to fitting mine yet as i need to make some bespoke brackets... but quality is excellent,
Car is looking great :) |
Cheers Ian, I need a couple more trim clips for the flaps due to my fat thumbs:eek:
|
Looking fab Jon, I admire your dedication to the project by working in the pi$$ing down rain :thumb:
|
They look great Jon, how far away are you from having it back on the road?
|
The handbrake cable retaining clips are inbound so when they arrive all I need to do is fit them, clean the underside while the car is up and swap the front droplinks for the CDF ones and it will go - needs a wheel alignment and I can talk through the engine work with Rich when he does the alignment (assuming he can fit it in):thumb:
|
Happy days, bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel again. Will be one of the best bugeyes out there.
|
It won't be long before I start on something else - engine and under the bonnet is next:thumb:
|
I was in Subaru today so asked for price on 4 new bolts for my rear hubs/struts. £40 excl VAT :lol1:
|
Back on all four wheels although it still needs the front droplinks sorting and a 4-wheel alignment:norty:
This is how she sits... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psvw4zkrva.jpg That's after jacking the car up and raising it another 5mm all around - I think another slight height adjustment might be in order as the rears have yet to settle:D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psteoanntp.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pslhex1aa8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psxwmau7o7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pstsojbavm.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ps0mym6kbx.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psiswr16cz.jpg And although it could do with a good clean, the sun brings out the best of it... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psgqdgqxjg.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pstzaha54t.jpg Had a slight disaster with the front chocks though as the front mudflaps swept them up when I pulled the car forward un-wedge them:( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psscqadzsj.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psxj2yfbiq.jpg And that's the flaps on the higher of the two settings that the rally tech flaps come with - on the lower setting they dragged along the ground:eek: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psqlfwq41j.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pswxorjgji.jpg The bolts is an M8 if you're curious:wonder: |

Half and inch maybe but not a couple of inches, that would look like a tractor:eek: It has the roll centre kit fitted so can handle take a big drop. Martin |

Martin Bonnet vent to fit next I think but I must resist buying a prodrive bumper (for now at least; I need to finish the jobs I've got lined up):thumb: |

I know - I've seen them varying from £300 - £600 which is mad. I need to clear my backlog though before I send my bumpers off for painting as you can't get them off the shelf in DBM with a special pearl lacquer:norty:

Wow I can't believe they have gone up that much, as you say its mental. Pretty sure I paid around £200 for mine this time last year.
Must resist for now:wonder: |

I know mate, but if I buy it that's another £300 gone that I would put towards the remap/wheel alignment and by time I get both bumpers repainted (and maybe some small arches to as it would be chirlish not to) that'll be another £3-500:eek:
Must resist for now:wonder: |
Looks awesome.....Prodrive bumper mmmmmm ;)

Suspension now set to the ride height I'm happier with - slammed looked good but it's no trailer queen...

Looking much better now Jon... Look forward to you fitting the bonnet vent as it's something I want to do as well
Martin |
Another package arrived today:D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psalhviyuf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pse5utwjuf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...pslpzipizu.jpg Reworked by Ryan after the couriers played football with it first time around - now looks mint, can't wait to cut a hole in my bonnet... |
Ride height is much better and that alternator looks spot on.
