And to top it off: Supplied as standard with styling as ugly as a typical Impreza :D

Sorry International Motors/Subaru...£27K for STi that depreciates faster than it acelerates. I'd rather pay the extra £3K and have something a bit more special. A Subaru should not be priced this close to the RRP of a top of the range performance BMW.

That new Hyundai Turbo 3 door thing is priced at £22.5K aim the STi at around that figure and I'd think you may shift a few.

X Drive will cost to re-engineer and like the XDrive 5 Series Estate will probably not appear. £30k starting price for a BMW means £35k for if you add wheels and a CD player.

So they dropped it 23 years ago Pete :lol1:

The Sti on offer for £27K is also without any extras either.

XDrive is available on the UK 3 series. Not in 335i flavour though (yet). They'll come round sooner or later, like they did with the diesels.

Now if only they'd make space in the boot floor for a spare tyre

I've just clicked on your 'massive' thread about your Modifications .... I note a couple of things:-

1. Your mods seem to consist of changing headlamp bulbs, changing a pointless oil catch can for another, and, to top it all off - changing the steering wheel.

2. You then hand it to someone else to do these simple jobs, the jobs I was doing aged 16 on a Saturday morning before footy.

3. If I was you, instead of struggling to change your car into something else, buy the something else instead.

4. It's posted on the Wales Section - which, come on, let's be honest, nothing much happens in Wales .... they need something to read after they have exhausted the SheepLovin' websites.

You truly are an arrogant fool for someone who has only ever owned one Impreza - albeit probably the most undesirable turbocharged version ever produced.

Your lack of understanding truly beggars belief, as for the modifications carried out to my car I wasn't off the understanding that you were a qualified bodywork expert as well?

I work in the automotive trade and have done for over 20 years, I see enough vehicles in work to last me a lifetime so I would rather hand the car over to an expert and give them the hassle.

You must add that to your resume alongside of course rocket scientist, as long as that means lighting the fuse and standing back which is about as much as I would imagine you could do.

I would rather modify a proper perfomance car ie my Spec C which was built to be modified rather than drive that pitiful excuse of a car that you endure on a daily basis. You really must look on enviously as you see other members being able to afford to buy, maintain and run a 'proper' car whilst you drive a discontinued pile of poo. :lol1:

Wales is great, it's a pity you can't afford the fuel or the bridge tolls to get in or I would invite you over to an SWS meet where we can all greet you with the respect you so roundly deserve. ;)

It might take you a while though if you were to attempt the journey...

How has any of this got to do with how slow your car is ????

Nail, head hit!

No one in their right mind is going to pay prestige money for a non-prestige car when a prestige car with similar performance is not much more dough.

This is where Subaru went wrong; trying to make their cars classy. People bought Imprezas in the hayday because of their combination of performance and affordability (there was nothing faster or more capable for remotely similar money), end of!

The rest of the performance car market caught up and rather than put the Impreza back on top of the pile in terms of performance, Subaru went on a misguided drive to compete with the VW group, Audi and BMW on things like design and build quality and then priced the car out of the range its key demographic want to pay! Combine that with their retreat from Rallying which is what brought them to the attention of the masses and it's a recipe for disaster!

I still love em, but if the Impreza is still considered a performance icon, it's because of past glories! The new age ones simply don't merit the title; they are competitive in the performance stakes as standard, no more. Of course they can be tuned to rise head and shoulders about the crowd (guilty) but that's not the point for many people who just want something special out of the box.

Of course, Subaru could go back to what put them on the table .... but I wouldn't hold your breath!

i agree subaru have lost their way with the new imprezas, but to claim a honda diesel with 138 bhp will leave it standing is laughable.

all pete is trying to do is wind up impreza owners and some of them bite,if you read his posts on the honda forum before his ban he rehashes his arguement about civic v impreza but in reverse to wind up the honda boys.

i have an impreza and love it to bits, but its not my daily hack.

i think i would rather walk than drive a civic diesel though with its 138bhp and 1350 kgs walking would probably be faster.

:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo: Isn't your car a 2004? A great car, but an old one nonetheless, we are in 2012 are we not?

Or have you bought a stupid hatch now?

P.S. Have modded my car qute extensively thanks, just don't feel the need to gloat about it like some!

Also true. Whilst I think a 2012 STi is too expensive. That won't put me in the driver's seat of a Civic as a alternative, be it a diesel or Type R.

My Grandad had three Honda Civics, a Ballade, a Concerto and a Rover 416 (which is a rebadged Civic)......so, yeah. Pete's got the right car. :thumb: :lol1:

Subaru: bringing people together! :thumb:

Makes you wonder if someone from a rival company has infiltrated Subaru's upper echelons doesn't it!

It's the only explanation I can think of for some truly astoundingly bad judgement of their market!
