Appreciate your help on this thread.

Do you think there will be ANY chance Subaru will do a u-turn on the gold alloys?

I keep asking them that myself too (think they are getting fed up of me hassling them hehehe), last time was Wednesday, and the answer I keep getting is either no, or wait for the Geneva show. But from the sounds of it, it is only America that are getting the gold wheels on the 1st 1000 cars, not the UK.

NormantheDog 28 February 2014 01:15 PM

Tell me, do the gold wheels make it go faster?

Probably, but they'll also make it look cheap
Imagine the conversion,

What do you drive?

A Subaru WRX STI.

Is it Blue with gold wheels?

Thehulkster699 28 February 2014 02:06 PM

You've been driving a Scooby too long mate.

Yes they do. It's a proven fact.

So the salesman told me when he was trying to flog me the wheel upgrade last week.

Oakleyextreme 28 February 2014 06:18 PM

Me personally would ask for Saturn black wheels as part of the deal. Don't get me wrong gold look nice with rally blue but I like to be different and not follow the crowd.

Thehulkster699 01 March 2014 07:32 PM

Nice little video....

abc 02 March 2014 02:36 PM

Perkele! (As Tommi used to say.)

Thehulkster699 02 March 2014 04:00 PM

Huh? Devil?
Explain please?

abc 02 March 2014 06:14 PM

Finns swear by invoking devils, and when Tommi Makinen went off, he often said "Perkele".

So far as I know, he never explained the meaning of the word when asked on TV, so English speakers assumed that it'd be ruder to our ears than it is, though to Finnish ears the word does sound rude.

Still can't believe we are this close to the uk launch, and still the uk subaru website has nothing more than was on there 2 months ago.

terzoscooby 04 March 2014 09:49 AM

That's IM for you. They have lost the plot when it comes to marketing the STI and customers.

urban 04 March 2014 10:24 AM

Lost the plot full stop, and should be ashamed of themselves.

CADpaul 04 March 2014 02:53 PM

so we are getting the 2.5 in the UK
nothing has changed

Don Clark 04 March 2014 04:30 PM

Yep, looks like grey wheels (they may even be black) and EJ257.........................

Is it really the EJ257? Surely it'll be an evolution of the 2.5l engine with a few tweaks.

it was altered in 2013, but only japan got it as we didn't get anymore imported fwiw

mickp 04 March 2014 08:38 PM

Have Subaru not taken any lessons from the past few years. Marketing disaster and the good old EJ257. Plus I would be surprised if there isn't more disappointment to come.

On the plus side, I quite like the front end and the steering wheel.

Grahamwrx 04 March 2014 10:15 PM

Have to admit I prefer the dark grey/black wheels to the gold, just need confirmation of any power upgrade or any other options and may tempted to return to the fold later in the year.
congratulations to all who have secured first deliveries and look forward to reviews of the uk model

Graham

Thehulkster699 04 March 2014 10:26 PM

That'll be me then! Wahoo!

One thing that bothers me though. I wasn't given an options list when I ordered mine in January. Will mine be getting built now or what? Is it only the 2nd wave of orders that will get the options list?

Grahamwrx 04 March 2014 10:35 PM

Is it confirmed that the first batch has sold out?
If so when is the next expected batch due?

had a blue bug wrx then black hawk sti so back to the blue again if I take the plunge.

Any idea what the alterations were?

advevo 04 March 2014 11:23 PM

I really need to know co2 g/km for the wrx sti. Can anyone help me with that.

The old one had 243co2 is the new sti engine lower?

Good Luck but I think it will still be in the highest bracket.

advevo 04 March 2014 11:52 PM

Why haven t they released anything on geneva about co2. Will it be that bad?

it will be over 400 quid a year in road tax then!

Littleted 05 March 2014 07:28 AM

There embarrassed I bet.

I,ll never pay 465 a year again, it's a major outlay for rd tax that,

:D :D
The marketting dept just can't get it right can they
Subaru need a Hugh overhaul from grass routes to sort the mess they have created and still they don't seem to listern

They should have a member if staff reading forums to see where they go wrong
Bad job of customers don't even though of they are not getting gold alloys ( which do make th car go faster) and tax bracket although I'm sure it will be the top one

If a member of Subaru uk had came in here and prehaps reassured people of a new engine or modifications do it wouldn't go pop

They could of also offered a 5year warrenty

Maybe subaru uk should get their act together and find out why their cars aren't really selling
Look back to 1999/2000 and the good old days

Littleted 05 March 2014 07:50 AM

I doubt any will pay any interest until they sack off the ej25, for a new model.....

I don't want tweaks I want a new block, why or why they don't give us the Japanese one I,ll never know...
