Default Renault dealer, what a waste of space?

Just rang Evans halshaw in Donny for a price to replace a leaking rad on a Megane F1.

Me: Can you give me a price to replace a radiator on a megane F1 please?

EH: We'd need to do an initial technical check before giving you a price.

Me: OK, but I'm 30 miles from you, what wouldf be the price please? Ballpark figure will do?

EH: We'd need to do an initial technical check before giving you a price....

Me: Fine, but I don't want to drive it 30 miles each way for that, can you just give me a price?

EH: We'd need to do an initial....

Me: ASSUMING it IS the rad, what would be the price?

EH: We'd have to do an initial technical check...

Me: Thanks, (Hangs up).

Anyone else come across such an obstructive attitude? What's the POINT???

And yes, it WAS a real person.......

the Mercedes dealers I have dealt with have been very good...a lot better than their cars anyway.

Only had a few dealings with my local Renault so far not bad. I am quite confident with my spannering abilities so will hopefully just use them for the more specialist jobs that cost of equipment puts it out of my capabilities.

I've had many cars from different manufacturers, and by far the worst I've ever had the misfortune to deal with was Renault dealers.

Shower of Sh1te, the lot of them.

I'm having similar trying to get a test drive in an M135i. You'd think it was some sort of uber niche exotica, not a full production hatchback.

Renault does have a very poor reputation but my worst experience is easily from Vauxhall.

Strangely, I've just had a 100% better experience with another Renault dealer, this time a family business.

Booked my lad's car in for an aircon fault, the lass rings me back ten minutes later to tell me there is an advisory from Renault on his car, the repair may end up free.

They were FAR easier to deal with.
