Hi guys it's been a long time since I sold up, well 18 months if not more as I needed a final cash injection to be able to get on the property ladder. House is at a point that I'll be able to get something for the driveway and have always wanted a gtr. Keep looking at other options out there but the itch needs scratching so doing some homework.
I'm sure it's been mentioned but there's a hell of a lot to read and catch up on. I was hoping any owners could share their experiences with running costs, I'm not expecting it to be cheap and after running 8 plus STi's over the years couple near 500 bhp I'm used to the cots associated
I'd like to know things such as -
Yearly servicing costs?
Costs of tyres and the millage you're getting from them?
Replacement disks and pads and millage you're getting?
Heard they can use oil, so how much and how often?
Insurance costs of you're don't mind saying?
And any other pointers, MY to keep away from, things to look out for etc
Any help would be great and very much appreciated
Cheers

I can't quite remember the running costs (when you own one you quickly try to forget them!).
Mileage wise, my RS4 is no better on fuel.
I owned my GTR for 20 months, it had new MPSS tyres when I bought it and they still had plenty of life left in them even after a training day at Millbrook and (almost) a day going round Silverstone. Think I did about 14k miles!
Brakes, £2k +fitting.
2010 model onwards had better resolution touch screens.
2011 onwards the service intervals went from 6 months to annual.
Insurance costs for me @ 37yo with full no claims discount was ~£450/year.
Take it to an independant for servicing. Not sure what the schedule is for post 2010 models but mine was A , B , A , C - A was just an oil change (£150). B was interim service £400 and C was about £600.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to own one, I miss the exclusivity of owning one but with it I don't miss the attention when I'm parking it somewhere! Don't own one if you're a shrinking violet!

Bought mine new and only cost me £550 for 3 years servicing and an MOT. Also depreciation was only 28%. Not a lot of cars on the market that could hold their value that much.

Ha I'm sure it is
Quick one though is the issue with the early gearboxes as common as the wonderful world of the Internet make it seem. Are the horror stories as bad as it's made to seem or is it more commonly a relatively cheaper fix?
Also budget would probably be looking around £45k, what options should I be looking for or MY I should be holding out for even if it means banking some more cash
As always, thanks in advance

some of the earlier models had some issues, but the internet went OTT
Mine is 2010, 654bhp, suspension, brake mods, 36k miles, 1 owner.... mines up for £44.5k, so £45k is a good budget for a 2010 car

Since I have a nice parking space at the new apartment, I will be keeping the car, so this year is going to be a general tidy up on the car, to make sure everything is perfect
Done:-
-New windscreen (already chipped )
-New ASNU injectors (and remap) to reduce black smoke
-Refurbed wheels
-Silicone piping
To be done:-
-Custom wrap goes on in June
-New tyres (R888s)
-New brakes
-Will repaint the calipers with the new brakes
Might be on the list for this year:-
-New front seats
-Remove rear seats (allow more space for bags, etc)
-Front diff (waiting to see a friends car with a quaiffe front diff)
Just done 600 miles last weekend going to Holland and back to look at the tulips. Will be out at N24 at the end of this month and then a couple of GTR owners are doing a tour of Europe in September.

I really need a gtr one day!
What's going on with pedestrian impact design at the moment? I thought a few years ago everything started getting rounded off at the front for this reason? Just looking at a lot of cars these days (and the my17 there) they seem to be getting sharper and edgier again!

Paul of course.... not a colour, but more design will have to wait for the final pics, will be very marmite!
The GTR has the bonnet impact stuff, which pushes the bonnet away from the solid metal engine when impact occurs at x speed

Yeah, just meaning the angles. The my17 there just reminded me that's all. Even the latest BMW's etc all seem to be getting sharper and more angular.
Are there many higher mileage GTR's about? What's their Achilles heel going to be with higher mileage? Do the engines seem to be holding up well?
