Peugeot 206 GTI
I have been offered one in a swap for Impreza. What are they like to own? I took one out a number of years ago and found it rather dull TBH but it may be the means to an end. The one in question is an 80k mile 2001 model with an sp pack.

Nice fun little cars expecially the 180bhp ones which are not as common. But if its been offered at a swap, unless your scoob has issues you are getting the raw end of a deal.
I just sold a 2002 206GTI 105K miles, new MOT, very clean, FSH for £1400.....
As a car though they are fun but a standard 140bhp one is just nippy and OK. The 180bhp one is very similar to the 306GTI6 with a very peaky engine that loves to be revved and overall very good fun.

Not had a pug 206, but had a 206 1.6 8v. One thing I couldn't get used to was the driving position and how close the pedals were. Oh and the one I had (brand new off the forecourt back in 99) also had a problem with the drive shaft :-(
Moved off the 206 to a 2000 Subaru Turbo and what a difference that was :-)

The 206 GTI180 is a good car, flawed but good, gearing is too long in 2nd and the driving position is offset and the pedals are too close engine is a peach though if its for a standard 138bhp model then forget it, horrid car in comparison.

I had a 04 206 gti 180 the most angry juicy car I have ever owned spirited driving showed 9mpg I did a deal with it for my scoob I'd never go back. I agree pedals offset was not good and gearing was awful 5th gear 5k rpm 60mph

I think I'm going to give the 206 a miss. I'm looking for a compromise but they sound like too much of a compromise!

I test drove a 206 GTI years ago when I was thinking of trading in my then 106GTI. I just couldn't get a comfortable driving position.
And compared to the 106, the driving was boring as hell.

That engine is basically the one they put in their main stream cars like the 2ltr 407, 307 2ltr etc, its not really a "performance" engine, just a light car with a big engine, except it sucks
The GTI180 was a different engine, that engine was based on the 306 GTI's engine, but improved shame the 180 wasnt as good as it should have been
