Default My new car - Honda S2000

EDIT - 12th September 2010

I've got my car in an online competition. Pleaseclick the link and vote for my S2000 -

http://www.vertar.com/car-of-the-mon...-s2000-900.htm

I picked up my new S2000 a couple of months ago but held of posting until I'd given it a real good detailing! I've owned an S2000 before but that one was NA and was bog standard. This one has been modified quite a bit -

Rotrex supercharger conversion
Toda clutch
Toda lightened flywheel
18" Rota Fighter alloys
Brembo brakes
Mugen SS Carbon fibre front bumper

Here's some photos after I spent about 8 hours detailing it yesterday! -

And the engine! -

That is awesome, you just got me all excited lol!

They are fantastic cars, i had a MY04 model before i bought the scoob, would love to have another, especially a force induced one! What is it like with the charger?? I bet it is a right handfull, my stock one was a tail happy beast

What sort of figures is it putting out?

It's producing a shade under 350bhp. It has the potential for much more though as it's still running the stock exaust system with CAT. A decat, manifold and aftermarket exhaust system coupled with a full standalone ECU like the AEM would see over 400bhp with a lot more in midrange.

Driving at low speeds is just the same, to be honest it's slightly better as you don't get the kangarooing at low speeds. The supercharger keeps the same character of the engine, revvy and the power is delivered in the same manner. Torque is much improved, you don't need to change gear on the motorway half as much. When the mood is right, stick your foot down and it really shifts! Beautiful noise at 9krpm!

Very nice I had a stock S2000 for a few months but had to swap it for something with a bigger boot.
Not too keen on the front TBH, I tend to prefer the stealthy stndard look
Bet its a handful with that bhp figures

Gorgoeus car. Love S2000s even in standard trim. A better car than a Boxster although most people would never believe that.

Love it, but get that front end to fvck IMHO.

Also, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking (ballpark is good enough). My gut instinct is that you got quite a lot of car for the money by letting someone else take the hit on the supercharger conversion.

I paid around £13.5k for it. 55reg with 32k miles. I have receipts for most of the mos, in total I have receipts for around £14k as well as a receipt for £23k for the car itself. The bumper is full carbon fibre and was around £2k imported from King Motorsports in the US. I could remove it and sell it. They go for about £1k second hand, very rare!

That's what I thought....a total steal!! Very nice car and nice find. I'd personally put the standard 04> front end back on it for a more stealthy look...then I'd go M3 baiting

Looks amazing & I love the front end.
Engine bay looks very good & all over a great car, I have'nt seen a car that gets me thinking outside the Subaru box in a long time & for £13.5k it is an absolute bargain

Nice, just picked myself up a stock 2003 S2000 this Friday, and loving it also. Not as quick as what I was expecting, but its still an absolute joy to drive. Its suprsingly nippy off vtec and all the talk of no power below Vtetc is rubbish IMO. Its nipppy quick till 6.5K then quicker after. I was expecting nothing below 6.5K and all hell breaking loose after, which is not the case.

I have had a VX220 turbo, normally aspirated MX5, andTurbo MX5's. And the S2000 is such a well sorted package out of the box I would be loathed to muck about with it.

For all the many cars I have had, nothing ever compares for fun as a proper 2 seater convertible, and the S2000 is the best of them all IMO, and can happily be used as a daily driver. Great cars and an itch I'm glad I've scratched....

Ive nothing against s2000 (why would i , its a car and i dont have a Boxster either!) but that opinion above is the opposite of just about every car magazine comparison. In the blokes mag with the sunday mail, james martin (the chubby chef) test cars every week and i know he was underwhelmed with the Honda as well.

The Honda seems to be very much a "marmite" car.

you might want to check if it has had a hondata reflash before putting in a aftermarket ecu

i went for the hondata k pro in my charged dc5 (believe its 600 quid swap for your ecu / which is a really good deal)

that came complete with launch control as standard

also what charger has it got in it (a rotrex or jacksons)

Well I have owned both and driven both extensively and can tell you straight up that IMO the Honda is a better car.

Handles beautifully, awesome engine, costs much less to run, better built.... the list goes on.

You have to learn to drive it of course as with all high performance Honda VTECs, but once you do it is amazing.

Let's face it most motoring journos know f**k all about the real world of owning and running cars and probably worry that if they slag off the Boxster they aren't going to get their hands on that lovely GT3.

I don't care whether someone else says I am wrong. My money, my opinion.

Nice looking motor but must admit the front does look a little strange. Not the big lip but the small grill gap above number plate. Looks out of proportion.

As for Boxster vs S2000 its all relative esp when the newer boxster s's are 310/320bhp but in terms of value/thrills for money the S2000 wins hands down imho.

Looks great - the wheels, and IMO front bumper look great (and this is coming from someone who usually hates aftermarket bumpers etc)

Sounds like you got a good buy there considering all the mods!

Thanks for the comments guys! I personally love the front bumper, sets it apart from a standard S2000.
