Vauxhall Movano Gear Linkage Failure
Chaps
Sorry if this is not the appropriate place for this and mods please feel free to move it.
My father in law has a Vauxhall Movano, which we were hoping to use tomorrow to start moving house, but it has developed a problem with selecting gear.
When you move the gear lever, you can see that the rod connected at the base moves, but it fails to engage any gear. The selector just swims around the box.
It looks like rod connects to a cable and but there are various other bits under the gear lever that must actuate something (sorry, I don't have much knowledge of this stuff!).
Does anyone have any ideas about what's likely to have gone wrong?
Thanks!

The cables to the box wear, and are a fortune to replace,I think there is a factory upgrade that is even more expensive ,If I remember rightly you can use a newer style cable that is cheaper and can be made to fit thanks Colin

I've not seen it on a Movano but on Vivaros the linkage come off at the gearbox end, you can pop it back on and secure with a cable tie as a temporary measure
