Default What 4wd Prestige car

As above, its for my boss.

He currently has a Lexus but its crap in the snow and bits keep falling off it .

It doesn't want an Audi but wants a 4wd Prestige car, what would you guys recommend?

Hes just turned 60

More of an update, must be a saloon and do more than 20 mpg .

Basically wants one like the Lexus but wants 4wd but doesn't want a 4x4.

Are any BMW like this?

Quite a tricky spec really.

Volvo XC70 - slightly off roady but pretty comfy.

Audi are the only ones that do comfy performance/prestige road biased 4x4s "properly" though unless you spend Bentley/Porker money.

Tell him not to get a Merc R500. Its like, well I cant describe it. Its a 4x4, people wagonny type thing, well kitted out but ugly as sin (coming from a Bugeye owner), depreciates like a Yugo, and fuel economy is terrible.

I nkow you didnt ask what not to recommend, but I cant not recommend it highly enough(if you get what I mean)

I was in Leeds Porsche recently and there were a lot of Panameras waiting to be sold. They had one 911 Turbo that sold when I was there and no GT2/3s at all.

The Panamera should have broken away from the "oversized 911" mould that the Cayenne used. It should have been a 928 replacement - instead it look like a fat 911 with an awkward **** end. And although very quick, reports seem to suggest it misses Porsches usual trump card - a dynamic chassis with loads of steering feedback.

That's a bit like having a Land Rover that's cack off road.

No such thing. There's a V10 TDI and Audi do a V12 TDI but no W16.

Actually yes - Passat R36 is 4WD but maybe not very "prestige"

Think the AWD Jags have been dropped now?

Volvo S80 V8 AWD [Combined mpg Automatic 23.7] £48,307.00 buys you a fully loaded example that would put large exec car's to shame. Unpretentious it defiantly is, prestigious though? If he is a Lexi driver and anti-Audi, perhaps it will be right up his street?

Not prestige but an Insignia VXR is a 4wd saloon or hatchback.

I have had a little shot in a Panamera, its truly awesome. I know its predicable for me to recommend a Porsche but they are just such smile inducing cars to own, Everyone else on the road hates but you are in a blissful world of your own.

I was going to say the same thing, second hand ones are an absolute steal, and very exclusive too. It's the obvious choice if he doesn't go Audi

Infiniti G

Like a Lexus and comes with 4wd option. Though for the life of me I can't understand why he wouldn't consider an Audi A8

Yes.
Beautifully made and really classy in a way that the usual "Premium" brands will never be.

just get the Audi RS6 ...job done , but you wont get 20mpg though , flip side is 500+ bhp in a comfortable saloon with awd
