Default Volvo V50

Has anyone had a 05> Volvo V50 2.0D?

They look quite snazy for an estate and the figures quote 50+mpg which is making me think of swapping my ST

I've been browsing the ads and the Sport version looks to be the 1 i'd go for - probably bright red or met blue (WRblue ish)

I thought the V50 as it would be very practical but if i found the S40 (saloon version) i might consider that?

Any opinions? and yes i know it's a Volvo but i am getting on a bit

the 2.0d is straight out of fords focus. its a very good engine just make sure there is no oil leaks as the rear main oil seal used to leak after 24k.

other than that a very solid car just get rid of the ****ty pirelli tyres and your all set.

(i used to be a tech for volvo)

any more questions just ask

About the best looking estate out there I reckon. Love the floating dash too.

The Volvo V50 is a cracking car as for problems they are no worse than other cars its just that Volvo Drivers are so used to hassle free motoring as for servicing costs roughly £300 + vat for a routine service pollen filter every three years is a pain due to its location i work for a Volvo garage so have been with the V50 since its launch if the budget allows go for an r-design d5 manual lovely car it can be mapped to 253hp and 548nm ?? so you be that way inclined RICA Engineering - Performance and Economy Tuning for Volvo, BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes and most other makes and models

The R Design D5 is what I rather fancied - the front wheels struggled to cope with the torque though. Still a nice car.

They fair better than you think due to the added weight of the engine they seem to cope better than the 2.0d and the dstc is rather good at sorting it all out

I tested one - the local dealer is very nearby. It coped better than I expected but it still torque steered and spun too easily. Didn't put me off completely but it was a bit of a downer. I'd happily have one but went for an evil marque instead.

They just need to be 4WD or RWD - if they were I'd probably now have one.

They did a V50 T5 AWD for a year it was awesome but they ceased production due to lack of interest as for Rwd they switched to Fwd for safety reasons
