Steering wheel not straight...
Okay sorry for what seem not only a petty question but also a dumb one.
When travelling in a straight line in my golf the steering wheel is about 5deg off centre. This seems minor but its aesthetically annoying and it also means indicator cancel does not work as well as it should on right turns as it does not return to centre.
The tracking is spot on..... if you let go of the wheel it does not pull and it will happily drive straight just with the wheel remaining off centre.
I have had the tracking checked a couple of times over the years and am always told "its spot on".
The car came to me like this and I would like to get it sorted but am not sure how to progress it. I know you can correct steering angle by altering the back legs but the last thing I want is a car that travels at an angle to its direction of travel....
Car has never been involved in a accident or had any serious trauma.
Advice appreciated!!!

Common on Golfs! Take the wheel off as said, it's not that hard, the airbag unit unplugs and comes out. Or take it to a VW dealer and tell them to sort it. 99% of tyre places that do wheel alignment are rubbish but they should be able to leave the wheel straight if you tell them this is what you want.
