Cool The most outrageous sounding cars...

My vote goes to the BRM V16 race car powered by a supercharged 1.5 litre engine with 16 cylinders

Turn speakers up and click!!!

How much noise can be had from such a tiny engine!

Any other suggestions?

My Land Rover is very anti-social

Click!

Just to think - 3.5 litres and 130bhp - pathetic isn't it!!

Well, thinking about it - at the time.. it was worse than that due to dodgy Strombergs, knackered cam, tappets and in need of a good de-coke. So it was more like 100BHP - a whole 28.6 bhp per litre

Saw the V16 BRM at Goodwood a couple of years back - a superb sounding machine.

Ferrari 250LM still gets my vote as the best sounding ever though

The BRM doesn't just sound great - it's an all-over amazing car.

195mph, and 530bhp in a car that weighs just over a ton.

Oh - the 70psi of boost probably helped....

Not bad for a car that they stopped building in 1955...

that mp3 does not do a v8 justice you have to hear/feel one for real

Don't have a soundbyte but I can honestly say the noise of 4 GSX-R1300 throttle bodies gulping air just about 2ft from your ears at 11,000rpm is like nothing I have ever heard.

The porka GT sounds awesome too.

Loved my ride in David Yu's F355 with tubi exhauts - OMG !

Always loved the sound of high-reving tuned RB26 engines in the skylines.

I wouldn't claim it is 'the best'

BUT

Most of the people who know my Maserati Bora (including myself) reckon it is one of the best sounding cars they have ever come accross. It is the best cocktail of V8 noise and Italian sophistication combined to create a stupendous exhaust sound. The exhausts are not 'standard' they are stainless steel and made roughly to the manufacturers pattern with a few tweaks. They give better power and noise than the ANSA so called sports exhaust the car had on it when I bought it.

It is the antithesis of the sort of Italian sound you get from a F355 which although it does sound great, IMHO sounds like a hairdryer in comparison.

A Mig welder, 2.5" and 3" pipe, a pair of E-type Jag silencers and pure luck.

The Mp3 doesn't do it justice (compressed for space - sorry ), If you have a subwoofer you may get an idea of how deep and burberly it is when your pottering about.

Perhaps it's not classed as outrageous enough, But I love the noise of a TVR Griffith, mordern TVR's sound nice, but just aren't the same

And I love the induction noise from the 6 carbs on a Ferrari 365 Daytona.

There's also a bloke down the road who has the sweetest sounding Lotus Sumbeam, The pickup response when he floors is jaw dropping, I'll have to ask him one day what he's done to it to make it shift like it does.

OK, not a car sound, but what about the Honda 250cc 6 cylinder race bikes of the 60's? They made around 60bhp and revved to 18,000rpm.

click here then click on the little play button

Glad the skyline got a vote ... been driving one for the last few days and have to say .... what a buzz .. R34 GTT 2500cc turbo with 5 speed transmission

HKS suspension, HKS induction kit, HKS SQV valve, HKS plugs, Trust electronic boost controller, Trust oil cooler, Blitz hard piped intercooler, Apexi exhaust system...

It sounds awesome.. rolleyes, and tummy ...

Another vote for a tuned Rover V8, I ran a race-spec 4.2 in a TR7V8 Convertible, with two silencers that where the size of a baked bean tin.. now *THAT* was very rude

After being featured on TG just a little while back, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the McLaren/Mercedes SLR as of yet...

Insane.

Late 80's Group B Audi Quattro Sport S1 at full chat anywhere where there are walls/trees for the noise to bounce off....

The memory of seeing a three foot stab of flames on the overrun and hearing the wastegate chirrupping like a dimented canary still makes the hairs stand on end.

GT40 (replica) been in a couple of these & I've never heard anything as mad as a 5.8 with the 8 carbs popping & flaming about 8inches from your head. Truely deafening.

Couldn't agree more. Definately one of my all time favourites. In fact every time I listen to it, my hairs stand on end and I have a small tinge of 'fear' Weird.

Cool

I was lucky enough to drive an Enzo Ferrari.
Pressed the starter button and it fired up - sounded just like an F1 car - past 4K revs it howled and went like stink!

The noise was just glorious and the experience will live with me for a long, long time!

Weird, that's exactly what happens to me too!!! It really gets the hairs on the back of the neck!

The car in that recording is one of Nick Mason's (Pink Floyd) massive collection!

Used to think my Type R scooby with H&S Downpipe and full Nur Spec R was the nuts.

I have sold the scoob and now have a 2001 996 Carrera with Porsche Sports Exhaust and this takes some beating at 5-700rpm!
