I think that the Renaults were called alpinE, not Alpina
As above, Alpina take stock BMWs, drop in a larger capacity BM mill, and do some exterior and interior styling. Switchtronic gearboxes are also popular - at one time their offering was much preferable to BMWs own effort.
Unfortunately, the closest 95% of the BMWs you see with "Alpina" badges have been to Alpina would have been the Alpen the owners ate for breakfast.
If it's the real deal, they *may* have an extra badge on the back along the lines of "B3" or similar depending on the model and engine.
Sure I've seen a couple for sale on here, so some genuine Alpina owners may be able to add some more info
