Anyone any experience with these, the old man is thinking of swapping his Range Rover for one he has seen. Seem fairly high spec for the money (ex demo)

Looked at X5, but doesn't like it.. don't ask me why??
IMO - He's downgrading from a Range Rover, but he seems to like the RX300.. I think he's getting a good deal. Just asked me to see if there are any known problems/issues with them

The RX300 is just about to be replaced by an updated version, previewed at Detroit, so don't buy one now if at all.
Overall they are very car like, but compared to the opposition they are also quite cramped and don't really do the business on the forecourts, with poor depreciation. Though as its a Lexus it may lose money, but it will never break down. 3.0 engine offers adequate performance, but is reasonably thirsty for it. Plus their is no diesel option should your dad look to buy diesel this time.
The new boy on the block and the one getting all the plaudits and plenty of orders is the Volvo XC90. Its been driven by all the mags, who have all placed it ahead of the X5. Cheaper than the X5 and RX300 too, so that's where my money would go if I was to get a SUV.

the build quality is in another league compared to most of the SUV's, Engine is as smooth as an electric motor. Very underrated car. If he wants a used one,he can get one from Japan(Toyota Harrier) and i think the spec is better on this version.
