Check out the threads on Pistionheads.

Quicker and better handling than the startled Pony 458.

Very very nice.

Name not quite as snappy as "F1" though.

Average looking as far as Supercars go. I would pick a 458 or a Gallardo every day of the week over that

The little details on them are impressive.

My friend works for McLaren building the MP4-12C, and you have to see it to fully appreciate it.

The 458 & Gallardo look more edgy, and are deffo more striking to look at, but I dare bet the MP4 will age better than the pair of them.

Look at the F1. Still looks fantastic today as it did then. F40? F50? Diablo? Certainly more striking back then, but look way out of date today.

And remember, this is the entry level McLaren. Can't remember what they said, either another 1 or 2 cars are planned. Deffo an `F1` replacement will be made.

Strange actually - the F1 was never a looker imo just like the F50 or Diablo. The F40, like the F355 and Gallardo are to me Classics and i dare say the 458is a return to form.
I should maybe leave the jury out till i've seen the new Mac in the flesh as often the real thing is always gonna tell a better story than a pic

I am a member of Ecurie25 supercar club and I believe they will be getting one of the first cars in the UK. I cant wait to take it for a few days....... looks a LITTLE like the new 458 Ferrari, which incidentally to date is the best car I have ever driven by far. The noise and gearbox are very special indeed......

Bring on the Mclaren !!!!!

Ecurie has four franchises around the UK (one being in Northern Ireland). The cars rotate between the branches so members don't have to drive the same cars every month.

More info hear if your interested !

I saw it in the flesh at the MTC in Woking last year when my mate took me for a tour. So built in the same place as the F1 cars. In fact from memory Im sure the new buildings they are erecting were specifically for the production of the road cars.

Thanks.

I should probably not spend that extra grand in this age of austerity and so will order the Maclaren instead. Will post pics when it arrives......

A major issue with living in Cornwall and being into cars - not a single race track, no prestige/performance car hire and no race/track training. You have to either enjoy public roads (which are very good) or get into green laning! Does look good though.

Nope - we also have to suffer endless miles of stunning beaches, moorland and countryside, cracking driving roads, surf, amazing food, some great schools and a laid back lifestyle with no "the Joneses" sh1te.

It's tough but someone has to do it.

One reviewer described the design as 'beige' and at the moment I've got to agree. It's hugely capable I'm sure but has almost no 'wow factor' for me.

I know what your saying. it doesn't stand out like a Ferrari or Lambo. But this is probably the design direction McLaren wanted to go, understated. Like I said before, stand out cars age more quickly once a replacement model comes out.

Drive down the road in a Ferrari or a Lambo, and people think you're a to55er. Drive down the same road in a Aston Martin, and you won't get the same response. Understated but still fantastic to look at.

That does actually sound very interesting. How does it work insurance wise - do they cover you under your membership costs and there is a big fat xs or do you have to take out your own policy on their cars?

Which level did you go for and realistically how many car 'days' have you received?

I know what you are saying but the McLaren just isn't fantastic to look at in the way a Vantage/DB9/DBS is.
It's simply not a beautiful design. It's a weak design.

Drive down the road in a Nissan ZZZZ and people know you're a to55er. Drive down the same road in a BMW, and you won't get the same response. Understated but still fantastic to look at.

I'll report back if I get a ride

I saw a blue one yesterday in Bromsgrove. Completely missed my turning looking at it.

It wasn't far off sonic blue in colour.
