Evo 8 fq300
Yay or nay?
I'm away to look at one tomorrow that's not too far away from me, meaning I can look the car over properly and easily walk away if it's not as expected.
I've fell out of love with my hatch and even though that's not put me off them - I'd have another in a heartbeat. In fact, there's one I was considering but the seller isn't sure he still wants to sell and he won't be back home for another 10 days - So, on that note I'm not missing out on this as it tickles my fancy.
I've always had an itch for an Evo and with still having the wrx wagon it'll be the best of both worlds.

Did you sell the hatch already ?
My buddy has an evo 8 tuned 350&1.6 bar
I drove it quite recently here's my comparison
The hatch has a much more modern comfortable sporty interior
The interior in the evo is dated and awful
The hatch goes quicker
The hatch stops quicker
The hatch goes around corners just as fast
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I reckon the evo is the prettier car
Overall I wouldn't change my hatch for one
Let us know what u decide

No I've still got it, I'll sell it once I have its replacement.
That was one of my concerns regarding the interior, I do like my creature comforts but with it being a weekend car for me personally performance will take presidence over the interior. I do like the interior of the hatch though.
This one has huge brakes so it will stop better than my hatch, it has ohlins suspension amongst other things so I'd expect it to handle just as good if not better.
And it's running 200bhp/100lbs-ft more than mine so I'd expect it to be faster.
Fingers crossed, I'm hoping for a nice clean motor with no issues at all, no leaks nothing. It's low mileage as well, previous owner for 10yrs and the current owner is 59yr old and a proper car enthusiast.

It's proper clean, no rust or rot. Receipts for dinitrol treatment etc.
But......obviously I'll check for this when I go see it, look it over outside and inside, underneath. The best I can of course.

Yeah underside is the the area obviously
Common places rear rails filler neck area rear arch lips. There are a few out there but normally demand a big price. Never buy one that's lived near the sea!!! That's definitely asking for trouble.
They are great cars I've had 2, I had a mad 5 mins where I put mine up for sale to go get another. Just build it for track fun really. But I'd rather my car more refined looks better and newer

I've spoke with the seller of the other hatch I was looking at and he says he will sell but only for the asking price, so that's 2k more than the Evo. But it's 5yrs newer etc etc, you get the pic.
But if this evo is as clean and as good as I hope it is then I think it's a good buy, and obviously if I like it then I'll enjoy it.
I'll be honest I'm a total coont when it comes to choices and making my mind up.

It's the blue Scooby that the seller wasn't sure about selling, but he's now said he will but will only sell at full asking price. Which is 2k more than the Evo I'm going to see tomorrow.

Well I ended up buying the car.
The car is super clean, especially for the age of the car.
In terms of power it's just ridiculous, I don't think I'll ever feel the need to have more power. So I'm pleased.
Only thing that's annoying me is the idle, with the uprated cams set @ 107/113 it sometimes cuts out when approaching junctions, especially after driving at speed, a bit jerky at lower speeds but I suppose that's the trade off when running big power and an aggressive clutch.
All I need to do now is sell the hatch and I'll be happy, I've made the right decision and I still have the Wagon for my Scooby kicks.

What cams are in there? My 9 had Hks 272's in the idle was set just below 1000 to counter the lumpyness slightly but not once did it stall! I had exedy twin in which was amazing. Power was 580

It just keeps pulling and pulling, silly speeds very quickly. I'll be intrigued to see how quick it is to 100 etc when I use the performance box.

I know, its pissing me off. It doesn't do it all the time and never did it until after I was heading home, bloody typical. I've looked it up and it seems that a faulty idle air control valve causes the same issues, so I'll try cleaning it to see if that helps, then test it for resistance and see what results I get.

I'm coming from a past with motorbikes and I'm blown away at how quick this car is. I thought my hatch was quick with 361/400 and I think the most powerful Impreza I had been in before was my mates blob with 420bhp.
I've been in a mental Evo before but it was getting used at lower boost shortly after a build so I never got to experience the power of that. I think that was roughly 500bhp though.
Looking at the graph this seems to be 562/465
It's got low boost setting which looking at the graph is roughly 490 ish.
