Cool Treated myself....

Mitsubishi Evo Tommi Makinen Edition. 46k miles on clock.

Fresh high quality rust-free example from Japan sourced via Torque GT. It's currently somewhere across the ocean and will be due into the UK first week of March. It'll be ready to drive home first week of April.

I don't think I'll be able to contain my excitement the day before collection!

It was expensive, I won't lie. The red ones with decals are £35k now for a nice one, 2 years ago they were £20k. The white ones like this are the next best option and are also appreciating behind the red ones. Low mileage good quality examples are getting hard to find apparently.

It's factory spec albeit a rare Greddy Trust titanium exhaust and a Ralliart hardpipe air filter kit courtesy of the Japanese owner! Both of these could be replaced with standard parts if I wanted as the TME shares the same exhaust and air box as the normal Evo 6 so no issue.

The Tommi Makinen edition has many better features over the normal Evo 6 and is rated as the best Evo to drive and is the last of the "proper raw" Evo's. In Subaru terms, it's the 22B.

I would have loved a red one but out of my budget. The white is the next best option and the price of the red ones are bumping the white ones up. They're only going one way and that's up.

Yeah I'll be selling my humble Turbo 2000 later this year.

Can I ask how much it costs to import a car? Been looking recently but have had a straight answer yet.

Lovely - Health to enjoy!

I'd spend a few more quid on that to have it undersealed and waxoyl'd.

BTW - I'd take a white one over red anyway, regardless of cost.

It's going to have a Dinitrol underbody protection treatment upon arrival, a TOAD cat 1 alarm fitted and the limiter removed (all cars in Japan are restricted to 180kph[112mph] by law).

The red ones with decals are extremely in your face. Not sure I'd want that much attention. The white is a bit subtle at least. I plan to get some red mud flaps fitted and a remap booked in shortly after receiving the car.

To get a rough idea of price for an imported car, a rough guide is to multiply the Japan auction hammer price by 1.6. For example, if the hammer price in YEN is the equalivant of £10k, you'll be looking at a UK 'on the road' price of £16k when you take into account taxes, fees and registration etc.

TME features above and beyond the normal Evo 6:

- High response titanium and aluminium alloy bladed turbo with a smaller diameter compressor wheel to boost quicker and to be able to spin faster for higher boost.

- Quicker steering rack.

- Tommi Makinen embossed seats with matching red-stitched Momo steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and leather gear **** in combination with unique black faced gauges with red numbering and calibrations.

- White Enkei Racing Forged Alloy 17" which were the same design used in Group A WRC racing.

- The front bumper was of a new design to maximise air flow and was used in Group A WRC racing.

- The lower cross member was also replaced with an alloy item for strength and light weight.

- Front upper strut brace, 10mm lowered and tweaked suspension optimised for ultimate tarmac handling.

And the exclusivity of course

Stunning mate, is the plan to run it for a while and pass it on or join your stable of collectables?

Thanks all

Going to see how I get on using it as a daily. Don't really want to be responsible for a third car so the Subaru will probably be going.

Congrats on the purchase. Prices are going silly on them. I sold one 15 months ago for £12k having covered 42k Miles but couldnt buy it in Japan now for that much !

Do you regret selling? Yes, prices are constantly rising for the TME's! The ship is already sailing. I predict decent red ones will hit £50k in the next couple of years like the Lancia Delta Integrale, Cosworth etc and the white ones won't be too far behind!

Nah not really as its the trade i'm in. Not just Evos that are going I mean I see Skyline R33 GTST now selling for the price you would buy GTRs for and Supra N/a are now £6k plus when you could get Twin Turbos for that !

Nlce little investment that. I looked at a red one owner car (with all documentation including original sales brochure) 7 or 8 years ago and it was only £12k, shame insuring it wasn't viable at the time as they've gone through the roof since.

You can generally count on around $1500 for shipping, plus 30% VAT/import duty on total cost of car plus shipping. In realistic terms, if you see a car advertised for $5K on an exporter's site, you'll be looking at close to £7K all-in by the time you've got it on your driveway (thank Farage and his Brexit boys for killing the Pound on that one - a year ago that would have been closer to £6K).

To the OP, seriously nice wheels

That's lovely. Congratulations!

Always loved these. I went for a ride in one just like this when I had my modified RX7 years ago and the power delivery blew me away. You'll love it!

If your hoping that will appreciate a lot your going to have to keep the mileage down since it's going to be your daily driver. I see people are already asking over £40k for the red ones now. The only bad thing about owning a TME now is it's very doubtful you will mod it as it's definitely going to hurt the value.

As it happens someone is selling a white one on MLR now for £14500.
