Breathing a sigh of relief about the Scotland thing no doubt! If that had gone ahead the likelihood of ever seeing a labour government again in what would be left of the UK must have been pretty low.
That said carry on the way they are and it'll be the case anyway

I had to LOL at the 'We're going to cut child benefit' line - as if they were going to be doing the economy a big favour by doing so....
This is probably the most 'untouchable' benefit there is..... hahahahaha!
(unless you earn £50k plus!)

I think the 50k threshold will slowly lower tbh
and I doubt the "free at the point of use" NHS has more that 20 years left in it - whatever flavour of government

Well exactly, it was, until they decided to start means testing it. Don't want to go PSLewis over this but surely a percentage of the older parents in professional occupations, such as myself, are earning over £50k. Just when I thought I had my chance to claw back a little bit of cash from all I've paid in via way of tax and NI and it gets taken away. *****rs.

It's the line about how " We won't be wasting any more of your money without telling you where it's going " ,or something to that effect that has me in stitches.

Well....do you expect him to say,
"Hi, my name is Ed...I was big in both Blair and Brown's governments...you know, the ones that presided over ruining the country, socially engineering the population and left a note saying the money had all gone?"
Maybe he should......

Does anyone other than a handful of people on this forum have the slightest idea of what socialism actually really is?
Instead of trotting out soundbites you have gleaned from your favourite edition of the Daily Mail why not do some proper reading about it?
If you still want to slag it off after that then fine, but making comments like this is trite at best!

I know what it is
Throw billions away in order to kick start the economy.
And I spect most of the voters realise this and why lab won't get a look in for the next decade

Sorry, I don't see the link between opposition to executive pay of a shareholder owned hypothetical organisation to that of socialist econimic system. The difference in remuneration of executives between a company's realised profit/loss bottom line figures to that of market expectation of the company's future performance and resultant share capital as percieved by shareholders and, ultimately, the market have nothing to do with spending other people's money.

Can't believe how hell bent Ed is on increasing house building. Soon the only open spaces to build upon will be the drag and race tracks.

Profit "belongs" to neither, it's an accounting term. Profit (or loss) is the difference between revenue and costs of a trading entity. In terms of level ownership rights, shareholders are at the bottom of the food chain. Shareholders invest their money in company stock for a return, if the stock price goes higher than their initial investment, they can choose to sell in order to make their own profit and may also see some of the company's profits in the form of dividends if the company has an obligation to issue them. Shareholders can also vote to decide the level of pay of board members and company execs. How you conclude that the supposed disparity of high exec pay and the market capitalisation of a company or it's ability/inability to increase wealth of its shareholder somehow represents the "spending of other people's money", to me, remains unclear.

A community in which power, wealth, and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few. Trouble is it never works as some are more equal than others.

They also want to retain the 50% tax rate which has been shown by independent bodies to be poor at actually raising revenue.
So political ideology and class politics are more important than actual economics
Unfortunately the polls show that Labour would be the largest party if an election was called tomorrow, Milliband would be our PM and Ed ***** in charge of the economy

Is there any way to find out if these politicians have any accountancy ability, or even advanced maths compentancy barring qualifications, let alone business management experience in the real world?
As most are career politicians from the outset: Does a politics/economics qualification actually make these guys any more compentant than the average business owner? I'd say no.
