How long's a bit of strinmg? How much do you want to spend?

TBH, it also depends on the bikes: my eldest had a trials bike that went everywhere. It had a large, lozenge shaped downtube, so "normal" racks that carry upright and grip said tube, wouldn't.

We had a wheel-out one for him.

The others were cheapy uprights from french supermarkets, cost £5 each, solid as a rock once you zip-tied the front wheel to the rack to stop it moving.

Have a look on e-bay, there are loads, ranging from a few quid second hand, to £££££'s new.

And in steel or alloy.

I use Mont Blanc Barracuda's

superb and very strong...also "hold" the bike while you strap it on..very handy when on your own.

Fixing is via the T bar so you'll either need to cut your rubbers, or run them without the rubber strip when fitted.
(I found the U bar supplied was not long enough to straddle the Subaru Hatch Aero bar.)
