2010 looks like it is shaping up to be a good season!

Alonso at Ferrari.
Jenson and Lewis at McLaren.
Rosberg in a hopefully quick and fast car.
And now Schumacher as well.

Can't wait.

Hopefully he's matured enough to learn not to cheat as much as he has in the past, and that he realizes that the FIA is still Ferrari's best friend and not Mercedes so they might not turn a blind eye if he starts cheating again.

Having said this, it will be interesting to see how he really compares to the younger drivers

Funny, I don't see that happening due to schumi beating current F1 driver's in recent kart races etc.

On equal terms they wouldn't stand a chance.

If you don't believe this look at yourselves as proof.
How does your driving ability compare now to when you first passed your test? With time comes experience and you don't win 7 championships just by being given it on a plate, if that were true there would have been many more champions. His brother Ralph won nothing, DC won nothing etc.
The only driver that was of his calibre was Ayrton Senna really.

I think the chances of him winning the WDC are very high.

He has one of the best cars (unless they really screw it up), he has the best TP, he is probably the best living F1 driver and you can see he really wants it.

I would guess it will be all over by Spa..

Funny i can see that happening

A) due to his age

B) Lack of experiance driving an F1 car recently, F1 cars have changed alot since he drove them

C) Mclaren and Ferrari will have better cars this year, so Mercedes (Brawn) wont have it all their own way

But I'm still looking forward to it non the less should be an absolute cracking season, As much as I dislike Schuey I cant wait to see him race Vetttel Hamilton etc

bring it on

He was driving for Mercedes in the sports car series in 1991 and they paid for his first drive in F1 with Jordan at Spa so this is kind of completing the circle if you like.

Every few years F1 throws up a driver of real class and ability, not just brave young bloods. Schumacher is one of these along with Hill. Lauda, Mansell and Hamilton (??).

If he tries and the car works properly he will clean up.

All IMHO, of course

WEll if I'm wrong I will be the first to hold my hand up and say "hey I fcuked it up" lol

Crazy to think it seems we will have 4 top teams next year, McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull. With Vettel, Schumacher, Button, Hamilton, Alonso, Massa. Throw Rosberg and Webber in there possibly, all fighting it out for wins and the world championship. I can't imagine a better or more competitive season.

Cant wait for next year now, ******* excellent stuff, it look's very promasing indeedy!!

Where's the thread from about 18 months ago where poster upon poster was queuing up to say they'd never watch F1 again?

Back to his root's you could say, but I think the fact that Mercedes are German was the deciding factor for him, either that or he missed Ross Brawn too much lol

That would make sense.
And didn't Mercedes ask Schumacher to come back? Not the other way around?

It's reported that Brawn approached Schumacher in November and then Mercedes coming on board was what swayed him.

I wasn't a Schumacher fan previously, but I'm actually hoping he comes back and puts the young pretenders in their place!

Sch + Ross Brawn are a force to be reckoned with, and with Merc money as well they could be in business!

Bring it on!

Which cheating incidents do you refer to?
1. Dubious turn in on Hill 94
2. Outrageous turn in on Villeneuve 97
3. Park the car in Monaco during qualifying

I can't think of any more?
In a 16 season career with 7 world titles, 91 wins, 68 pole positions I'd say that the cheating didnt really change much. It's only his rep that it changed.
Personally I think he's the man. Been backing him since 91 and I will go crazy if he starts winning races again!
An 8th world title would just be amazing!

Likely your right but Lewis likes to throw the car around and can drive around a poor setup, Jenson is very smooth which is why he suffers if the car isn't spot on. A car full of fuel will chew its tyres in a few laps if thrown about. Jenson might not be quite as behind as people think.

Seems a bit unfair that we slate our champions - we slated Lewis last year for cheating or whatever **** could be thrown at him and not we slate Jenson because he didn't deserve the championship.

First race will be won by Vettel anyway.

And Adelaide 1994 was not cheating, he had no idea where Hill was and was just instinctively getting the car back on the track. If you really think that in the middle of a huie high speed crach he can think 'I know, I'll punt him off' then you are giving him more credit than he deserves. If Hill hadnt been so impetuous he would have been WC.

Having watched him at race of champs and karting in Brazil he's still the one everyone wants to beat and he certainly still has 'it'.
I don't think he will win the championship but i think he'll be a race winner.
Should make F1 worth watching......

Glad you agree. The Jerez 97 incident is the only one that made me ashamed to be a fan. Its a shame he didnt let him past and lose the championship with dignity.
At least he was able to do that against Alonso

With his natural ability there is no reason why he can't drive very fast at the age of 41. The main thing is that his neck seems to be healed now. He is not going to suddenly lose his reactions and feel for a car at his present age.

It is worth remembering that Jack Brabham won the World Championship at the age of 40 and the cars were more difficult to drive in those days requiring the ability to cope in the corners with something with very much less grip. No automatic aids either.

It will all make for an interesting season. I personally think Button shot himself in the foot by deserting Brawn.

Les
