Default Anyone had experiences with a company called 'The Claims Guys' ????

They are one of those companies who claim to get money back off credit cards / loans / payment insurance etc etc

I had a few missed calls on my mobile from an 0845/0800 number and after a while I answered it (they were ringing like 3 times a day!!!!) The girl explained what they do and then said she needed to ask me some questions to see if I qualified / was eliglbe etc, this consisted of one question which was how many credit cards have you had, I replied 'errrr 3 or 4' and she instantly said well you qualify I'll arrange for an advisor to call you, I booked the date in but it all seemed a bit quick for my liking.....

I recieved a couple of marketing emails 'Dont forget your FREE phone appointment' blah blah marketing emails etc, the next day I wasn't feeling too hot and thought sod it so didn't take the call, since then I have had about 4 or 5 calls a day from them.

It just makes we question a company when they seem so desperate to get business, seems like one of those things that I'll be on the phone for 2 hours then for themto tell me its going to cost me £500 and I'll never hear from them again!!

Interested to hear any thoughts etc

Sounds odd to me, There are countless proforma letters on sites like money saving expert etc that walk you through how to claim back of a credit card company with one letter.

They sound a bit like one of those companies that call you telling you they have a buyer for your car but you have to give them £50 first.

Steer well clear...especially if they want a deposit or any form of advanced payment.

See my thread on a company called 7 Claims.

It's the new form of ambulance chasing.

I got to hear somebody from one of these companies making outbound calls to people about PPI (and the like). Her script was very carefully worded, so it sounded like she was calling from the Ministry of Justice rather than a private company. Mind you, half the time she got it wrong and said Ministry of Defence

Slightly off topic but I'd advise anyone who needs to reclaim PPI to use the letter templates off PPI Reclaiming Guide: £1,000s for missold loan insurance...
I sent one letter and within 2 months (with no further communication from myself) I had over £5k repaid into my account.
I was initially concerned that I wouldn't have the nous to sort it but it was really simple. You don't need to (pay to) use anyone else.

\ian, if you are going to do it then do it yourself, go to Matins Money tips to the consmuer forum and d/l the free templates for just this sort of thing, all you need is the account numbers and you are away and no one to take 15-25% of your money. It is straight forward and easy to do.

i thought i would try out the claims guys out of curiosity to see if it was legit and turned out it was.2002 credit card that i had when i was 21 and ripped the **** out of it and i knew i had loads of charges on it.i didnt have any details but claims guys found out everything.all they needed was my signature.turned out mbna had charged me £530 .i got a letter saying mbna had paid them the money and was enclosed a cheque from claims guys for £250 with invoice persentages etc.if i had done it all myself i would have got the £530 but to be honest it took them 10 days it would have taken me a wee bit longer.ive got another old credit card but bank of scotland are fighting it by losing paperwork, claiming i havent replied quick enough.hitting out with jargon i havent got a clue about but the agent for claims guys says this is normal for them to try and stop me claiming.they'll definately get the money of them.hopefully this is a good heads up for folk.

Indeed Shaun, Handsome you expect people on here to believe you with a join date of june and only 1 post ... !!!!! Just goes to show how desperate some people are to get business. I hadn't read that other thread until now but yes, some strange user names on there, perhaps I should sign up as DONT USE THE CLAIMS GUYS what a load of nonsense

It's either them drumming for business, or the mods are creating new usernames to bump old threads to get people talking, and this place busy again.

A few other old posts have reappeared in the last week with newly registered names...

Hmmm!

Is it anything like the "Wonga" lot who will instantly lend you up £1K and charge over 2000% interest?

It was reported in the press recently together with another similar type of firm. The interest charged is well and truly out of sight!

(If you want to claim money back...don't use this company. My sister has been ripped off by them, they got her money back from her bank for just over £8000 pounds she has not seen a penny of it, also they took just shy of £3000 of her credit card for their fees.
Leaving her in debit with her card company and having to pay £200 in fees, so in total they have had £11,000. Please any one reading this don't go with them.)

You can only reclaim any PPI payments if you can prove they were mis-sold. The banks are now letting most ppl claiming go to court and and are winning around 80% of the cases so unless you were actually mis-sold which is doubtful i would'nt bother claiming.

After following advice from forum members on here, it was a walk in the park getting my mis-sold PPI back!

Don't bother giving them the commission, do it yourself!

I used a claims company who made sure the interest calculation was done correctly

MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

Ok they get 25% but TBH I wasn't expecting that amount of money

Default claim companys

I am actually a general manager for a claims management company.
I would advise any one that has an issue with a PPI to go direct to the company involved, it is so much easier now and you can find all the forms you need of the net or from your banks website.
Yes you still have the option of using a claims management company and most reputable ones will take this type of claim on and put in all the work for you, but don't be caught out with high costs and defiantly do not go with anyone asking for upfront fees.
My company manages these cases for 15% of the award + vat and this I believe is a reasonable price, I will not add my company name here as I'm here to advise not advertise.

I would advise as others have said, DIY it's not hard to do, contact your bank and they have ppi departments and tell them you want to make a complaint on charges, and they have to honour your request,
I fell for these idiots aswell (entitlements agy) do not use, absolute *******. Very poor customer service and took 25%
Wish I did it myself now.
Good luck.
Also tell these people to take your name off their system otherwise you will do them for nuisance calls.

Angry the claims guys

keep well away from the claims guys wot a waste of time, i claimed with them because they said there records showed i was owed £3,500.00 and after they did a check and sent me the forms to sign to allow them to act on my behalf and after a couple of weeks they told me they were sure now that i was owed thousands through my credit card and bank charges. they then sent me more claims to sign that they had found from years ago so i signed them and let them get on with it, they take 30% and i thought 70% of something is better than 0% of nothing. anyway after six months and loads of fone calls and letters from them i ended up getting a letter saying "congratulations we have made a successful claim on your behalf and you are entitled to £20.00 after you pay us the £7.00 of our percentiged you will get £13.00 haha im glad i hav a sense of humour as the only good thing is i get £13.00 when they eventually send me it !! oh and i have paid them there £7.00 by credit card already. Oh and they have just sent me another letter 2day saying barclaycard may owe me £2,700.00 yeh right

If anyone actually needs a hand doing a PPI claim just drop me a PM. I have a good friend who runs a company helping people with all forms of debt. An honest company that has been in existence for a great many years helping countless people keep their homes when mortgage companies have tried to have them repossessed.

Not like the sharks who are out there charging and arm and a leg and doing next to nothing.

Can't believe so many are falling into this trap, don't bother with these companies, its easy to do it yourself, most of the banks websites now have a PPI form you can fill in,or advice on how to claim.
All it takes is about an hour of your time,if you can't be bothered with that, then let these people have 3 grand of your money..

At work we get 3/4 recorded phone calls telling us we can claim back thousands
I'm sure a member with one post will answer this with a good company who can do all the work for me !
Stay clear of them all
