Default Self catering in Cornwall?

Would like the ST Ives area to be honest.

I've been to John Fowlers and that was nice but it was a few years ago and i've read some less than positive reports on the 'tinternet.

I've also seen these two...

http://www.stivesbay.co.uk/ipix/chaleta4a-2.htm

and

http://www.beachside.co.uk/bungalows.htm

has anyone been to any of these or has any recommendations of others.
I just dont want to book a **** hole for a week.

Cottages are too expensive (£500+) so want a nice self catering chalet or similar for the week.

Cheers

St Ives bay is great! its a very nice location, with a brilliant beach and good facilities, swimming pool, evening entertainment etc, however there isnt a great deal onsite for kids. My wife kids and I have been a few times with the in-laws, they go every year, and its a nice family place to go, and the beach is REALLY good. They have chalets and caravans, chalets are down the bottom end, caravans up top near the pool and overlook the beach and sea. hope this helps mate.

Chief, When you going, off down in June to Near Hayle. I know exactly where both of these chalets are and the first I wouldnt and the second, if I was skint I would.

Whats your budget and i'll have a look through my book marks and see if theres anything, but never stayed around st ives before as I prefer around Penzance or Helston.

Mike i've been to a few places in Cornwall including Padstow, Rock, Newquay, i loved St Ives though it is a lovely place.

We're also off there in June 13th for a week.

Budget is under 400 quid is possible.

Bit of a come down from Mexico last year but its not looking great for Mexico at the moment

Any pointers would be great Mike.

Cheers

We are staying with this company 45 mins down the road next week - pretty adventurous!!
They have a number of other places too.
We are staying nearby so both sets of grandparents can look after the little one!

Niche Retreats Cornwall | Porthleven Holiday Cottages | Caerhays Castle | Holidays Porthleven | Luxury Cottages Cornwall | Porthleven Accommodation

Shout if you need a hand with anything - know Cornwall rather well!

If you want really nice accommodation, these look ideal.

chief

Why dont you go the week later and come camping with me and the missus, we've got a spare 4 man dome tent you can borrow

had a look through my bookmarks and found a few in that area, not many as its somewhere we've never stayed before as where normally west of penzance or south of helston.

Just point out as well you may struggle to find availablility as your less than 2 months from going.

Mike, i've tried so hard to get her to try camping until i'm blue in the face. no matter what she thinks it will be cold, full of insects and will have a shovel to dig a toilet.

She likes her creature comforts but doesn't realise how good camping is - I'll get her on a camping weekend next year somewhere near home, hopefully she'll realise that it aint that bad.

Chief - what's your budget? I reckon you can do better than those chalets. They look a wee bit naff from my point of view.

Do check out my link - might be a bit pricey but they are lovely places.

Budget is less than 400 quid to be honest, on a 2.5 day week so financially pretty crappy at the moment so have to be ultra careful with any expenditure.

I'll have a butchers at the links though.

Cheers

The lizard is great but its a bit of a bugger when you want to go some where as from mullion its a 15-20 minute drive back to helston (longer if you dont get stuck behind some dilbert on a sunday drive, be careful where you overtake as i've seen so many accidents on this road)

we stayed in mullion harbour last year. Yeah, right in the harbour - which was excellent. We also stayed in the lizard lighthouse complex last year as well.

another website is South Cornwall Holiday Cottages - Mullion Cottages if your interested.

You might also want to look at this site: Holiday cottage cornwall, enjoy a cottage holiday with west cornwall cottage holidays.

some properties <£400.

The main Lizard-Helston road is twisty. I usually take the road over Goonhilly downs. It's a much better road and if you are going to Falmouth or Truro you can cut through Gweek.

I'll be in Cadgwith in June for 3 weeks. I always stay in "Pink Cottage".
