Depends on how clumsy/careless/forgetful you are... but generally not worth it.
I assume you've had the standard call centre pressure call that comes within 24 hours of you buying the phone.

The wife dropped hers, cracked the screen all the way along the length of the phone.
New phone within 24 hours, and as there were no 2G ones left, she got a new 3G one.
Not bad for a second-hand inherited iPhone on a standard contract (taking an iPhone tariff on)
