Women want equality.... then they can take equal beatings!!!!
I used to go out with a girl who hit me...... and trust me.... whilst people find it funny whereas she really deserved a beating to end all beatings.

if they act like men, treat them like men..................
one of the lads on here works the doors, and he was telling me that its the women who are the worst for getting chucked out as they always have the "you would not dare touch me" frame of mind, so usually try and bite his face and stuff

I have been in a relationship where a lassy tried to take advantage of the fact that she could lay into me and I'd not hit back.
Nowadays if a lassy hit me she's getting sparked out pure and simple. Thankfully my wife and I, whilst we'll shout and scream at each other from time to time, would never lay a finger on one another.

She shouldn't have hit him in the first place. Serves her right.
The reaction of the crowd was a bit OTT. How many men does it take to take down 1 woman slapper? The whole male audience
Some women think they can do what they want and not get any backlash because there are this delicate little defenseless girl.
I guess the guys reaction was that of shock. A natural reaction to defend himself.

In all honesty she got what she deserved really although I don't agree with hitting a woman.
Some of those female investigative reporters make me feel like that especially when they ask a bloke a question and then keep on interrupting him while he is trying to answer it! There was one last night doing that to a very polite American politician, she was very much over the top, and he did well to keep his cool.

Thats nothing, for the past three nights while asleep in bed I've been subjected to an elbow in the mouth the first night, the second night was a round of punches to the back and getting told to move over, and last night she woke me by just stroking my back.... All while she is asleep too. The second one I was actually right on the edge of my side of the bed at the time too.
Once more and I swear I'll get up and kick her right it the T...

I'm afraid I'm not up on religious stuff, but is it maybe some sort of religion / custom thing in asian countries/religions where a woman should be obedient and highly respectful of men and not allowed to hit him or be "disobedient" or something like that..?
Maybe that's why he was banging on about her not being allowed to hit "how can she slap?".
Apologies if I've got it wrong, but maybe someone a bit more clued up on R.E. could explain..?

Since your query is about Indian culture, I shall put my two pences in.
You are quite right that women are generally expected to respect men according to Indian culture.
The lad was banging on about how she can slap, but he got kicked about. It's because might is right It's like anywhere. In India too, cultural boundaries and traditions can be bent by the powerful ones. The ringmistress holds the strings, the cheeky lad is nothing but a mere puppet in the eyes of the people that beat him up. The last scolding by one mob member to him contains a Hindi word "Aukaat" (status/standing), means the lad should have stayed within his pants , knowing what he was. People in Indian showbusiness, and with money seem to do a lot of things that "not-so-rich and popular" can't/won't do. To top it up, the irate ringmistress was a female too, with feather stroke slap; facing a hard core masculine slap in retaliation. So, it all blew out of proportion there, giving the mob a reason to overlook madam's kickstart to the episode
