Meet the latest addition to the CrisPDuk household
She's an 18 month old Springer Spaniel called Dee
She arrived on Saturday from the Springer rescue people, here previous owner had wanted to train her for use as a gun dog but she failed to make the grade
Their loss is our gain I say
As can be imagined certain members of the household are less than impressed
But the dog is being taught her place in the scheme of things

Just kiddin
I like springers, just a bit too bouncy for me, but excellent loyal dogs.
Well done for the rescue too. Some people are just so **** about their dogs!

Dave, so have we but like they say, there's only one way to find out
I don't think this particular cat will have any problem bringing the dog round to her point of view though
Jonathan, My body's really unhappy with me already, 10 miles on Saturday, 12 on Sunday and then 7 yesterday that's more than it usually does in a month Fortunately we've two grown kids in the house too
Snazy, all my animals have always been rescues, right from being a kid, I've never seen the reasoning behind spending a fortune on pet, when there are so many looking for a home already
BTW I must give these guys a mention;
NWESSR - Home
Really good help and advice to make sure we knew what we were taking on, they kept in touch while were waiting, and found the perfect fit for our family
And they're still at the end of the line if we need them

We were offered a 10 month old male Springer the other day, the owners child was allergic to him, my wife wasnt keen, not sure why but we shall keep looking, to be honest if it needs me to put that much milage I am not that bothered, I mean, I like a walk but I like sitting down more
We have a Jack Russell for a few days at the end of the week, my brother in laws, have had her before when she was little and was having great fun at the weekend with the daft thing, I love Jack Russell, a small Dog but still a real dog, again, i am up for going and getting one from the same place as this one came from but the wife isnt keen, she wants something black and scruffy.
I would be quite happy with a rescue but am wary about it integrating with the rest of the families dogs, at least if you get a puppy you can socialise it early on, plus the kids want to do the whole puppy thing.

I suspect that many Springers are more than a match for cats. The Springer I had for 15 years just loved chasing them up trees or anything else for that matter. He considered it great sport.
I don't think a scratch on the nose would put them off. After all they love diving into thickets, brambles and all, to flush out the local wildlife.
Once on holiday we were woken up by a terrific commotion downstairs. On going to investigate we found Brandy - our Springer - in a high state of excitement and a cat trying to scale the walls. It managed to put claw marks in the walls. What had happened was that, we had left a window slightly open and one of the scrawny feral cats from the beach had sneaked in, attracted by the left overs in the dog's bowl. It was in such a state it couldn't remember how it had gained entry. Anyway the dog was restrained and the cat eventually found the open window again.
Enjoy your time with your new pal. They are very loyal and highly entertaining and at times hard work.

Looks ain't deceiving All the cats in the area know that our garden and the two either side are absolute no go areas
We had a 'getting to know you' session last night between the two of them.
Went well as you can probably imagine No blood letting yet but the dog is learning (quickly) that the cat is not the type that runs when confronted
