Ok, I have quite a few Win 2000 servers that I use, plus I've just got myself a copy of Virtual PC for my mac and I've installed W2K server onto it as well, and it's really rather good, anyway, I digress.

I want to get SP2 onto all the servers, but I don't want to download it to all of them. I want to download it to one of them, then somehow copy the components over to the other servers then get SP2 to install.

Thus my question is this. How on earth do I do this????

I can go to windows update (on those machines that have the option) and download SP2, but it then goes off and auto installs. What do I need to do pre or post download to grab the files, and what files are they?

I've found a sp2.cab and sp2.cat file in the c:/winnt/servicepackfiles/ directory, and I've put them onto a CD, but when I double click it just shows me the contents of the cab file, what do I do now?

Ok, looks like I'm a pillock! maybe if i actually read the 'about windows update' option I'd have realised I go to the corporate site and download the distributable updates from there. Doh!

Do I feel like a pillock or what? (if anyone wants to know what I feel like feel free to *try* and feel me at the woodman tonight! , be careful though, as I might try and feel you back, with either my fist, or my size 11's )

Try grabbing http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...-US/W2KSP2.exe which is the Network Install version for Pro, Server and Advanced Server.

Puff,

I can put the FULL version of IE 5.5 SP2 on our FTP if you want. I grabbed it for another customer earlier in the week. It supports 9x/ME/NT and 2000 off the one install 'image'

I should IE 6 as a full download in a few minutes when I try something somebody from MS has just sent me.
