There's no space to store a rucksack under a seat on tube trains, and any attempt to leave a bag and get off would severely compomise their chances of "success".

The Madrid bombers - though can't remember if it was all of them - were traced to an apartment where they blew themselves up after security forces had them surrounded.

According to a letter in the Times this week it was ID cards in Spain which helped the police home in on the gang. The mobile phone in the bomb which didn't go off was traced to the shop where it was sold, and the shop records of mobile phone sales included the identity of the bomber which had been presented at the point of sale.

Apparently they found only the head of the one on the bus and only the spine and some ribs of the one on the Edgware tube, and they think the Kings Cross guy was evaporated by the blast. What a shame they didn't suffer in agony for a while after the bombs went off...nothing like unbearable pain to make you consider your mistakes.

The Isreali's are quite adept at suicide bomber ID. They have obviously help with this one. When the detonation takes place the upper torso and feet are normally "well preserved" hence the quick ID of the bombers.

If we did catch the bomber, ie not a suicide bomber, then the British Justice System "would woundingly slap there thighs and bang them up for a while"

Saying that the bombers were/are thick or retarded or evil is a little too simplistic.
Having recently read Peter L Bergen's book Holy War Inc. I feel I understand a little bit more of this matter than I previously did.
The extremists or radicals that are willing to do this sort of thing do it for real reasons : reasons that westerners cannot comprehend but the capitalist imperialist West's invasion and occupation of Islamist countries such as Afghanistan, Saudia Arabia etc is seen as a huge issue - if these countries do not leave voluntarily then the those with extreme views see that waging violence against them is valid within their view of the Koran and therefore dying in such a fight will lead to a beautiful next life.
I think that there is a passage in the above book that mentions a journalist meeting up with a figher in Afghanistan who was literally in tears - a Russian fighter plane had flown over him and not killed him. He actually wanted to be killed as the Russians had invaded his land, he was fighting these invaders and as this was a holy war he wanted to be killed in the conflict as to do so would ensure his ascent to a particularly pleasant heaven.
Since the head of our country gets elected by us then the British presence in Muslim countries has been endorsed by the British people, same goes for the USA and Bush and our support for the USA only increased our validity as targets.
