Restoration BBC2 last night
What a pleasure to see Kings Norton (Brum suburb) presented so beautifully!! makes a real change for any of us Brummies to show the rest of the land we have some treasures on our door step- for me it was especially emotive, my parents married in the church, I went to cubs and scouts at the Saracens Head and now live 250 yds away from both buildings!
I for one shall be voting today, well done beeb, for showing the rest of the country that Brum isnt all concrete and motorways!

By the way, it was an excellent programme and the school and pub fully deserve to win in my unbiased opinion.

I thought it was a good programme. I enjoyed the part about Newstead Abbey since I used to live near there and know it pretty well. The whole programme was interesting though and it is a pity that it is not possible to protect all the buildings mentioned. Its all a part of our heritage that is well worth preserving and if allowed to disappear it can never be duplicated.
I see in the paper that there is a Vicar who suggests that the Saracen's Head should be renamed in case it offends Muslims. Even the local Muslims say they can find nothing to be concerned about. PC reigns, if we let it!

Fantastic 'controversial' statement by the Vicar to drum up a bit more publicity, theres no such thing as bad publicity you know.
Great news for the school and pub though, worthy winners.
