I've just come back from seeing a free preview of the remake of The Italian Job, thanks to Stella Screen

I have to say I was very surprised when I heard about this film, as I'm sure a few of you were. I was thinking it wouldn't be a patch on the original and that is wrong to remake such a classic movie. After watching Top Gear where they commented that it was filmed in LA, so there was no Italian connection, I was dissapointed.

I guess the original was good for the time, which led it to be so popular now in a 'cult' way. I loved the original movie, but as a fun movie. I wouldn't say it was one of the best films ever made!

Much to my surprise the 'remake' opened to a scene in Italy!!!

I don't want to spoil it, but I can say it's fantastic movie, which as my fiancee put it "has something for everyone"

It would be unfair to class it as a remake, as I think it would have happily stood as a movie in its own rights without calling it The Italian Job!!! There are many modern references, which are funny as well as seeing a clip of the original movie in the background, there is also a reference to it!!

It's a clever heist movie, with elements of a thriller, action, love (but not too much! ) as well as the car chases!! It was subtle blend of all these elements without trying too hard to be one or the other.

The actors and the script were good (no awards, but damn fine bit of entertainment!)... oh and don't worry none them do a Michael Caine impression!!!

Would I see it again in the cinema? Probably not.

Would I buy it on DVD when it comes out? Well it looks like thats one Christmas present sorted out for me!!!

Worth a watch! The girls should like it as much as the boys!

I like the underground scene in the new film.

I didnt think that much of the original, the ending was pretty
lame...

But i only saw the origional 3 days ago, so it hardly surprising it doesnt stand up againt new films.

Saw it on sunday, and if you totally ignore the name and that it's meant to be a remake, it is quite good. The music is rather nifty, and some of the scenes are very good too. My fave bit was Seth Green's imitation of Hansome Rob and Becky, pmsl!
