having a three year old son I can confirm what has been said.. it gets WORSE!

Once you've got to the "I want to watch this!" stage as you flick through the channels, you might as well give them the remote

Mind you, my boy likes LOTR2, anything with "racing cars" in it, MotoX programmes where they "all fall off Daddy!" , snooker, some football, cricket, James Bond... lots of stuff other than the fecking Fimbles (which is crap) and that sort of garbage.

We regularly watch Scrapheap Challenge and Thunder Races too

It's more an "on in the background" thing, he certainly doesn't sit there glued to the screen - most of the time he hasn't got a care what's actually on..... until I want to change it of course!!

Edited to add - and he knows the names of nearly all the major robots in Robot wars, and has got lots of little die cast ones and an arena to use them in, complete with pit and flipper Ahhh.. parental influence eh?

Our baby daughter has it on in the background whilsyt playing and doing baby type things.

It drives me to distraction!
I find the voices and songs so irritating i find it hard to put into words.

Is it just me?
Will i get used to it?
Is there therapy avaliable?

Tweenies, Teletubbies also promote kids sulking and generally stupid behaviour. These are meant to be educational kids programmes - not impressed. I try to turn off when these are on.

But we also have-

Don't know why I pay for the full Sky package - our system's bolted onto CBeebies At least until 6pm when I have to watch the news (just to maintain sanity!!!)

I'm on holiday until September, and so far this morning we have watched (me, 3yr daughter and 2month-old daughter...)

6am - 7.30am Simpsons DVDs I watch these everyday anyway (got every episode!! )
7.30 - 8.00am Bear in the Big Blue House(CH5)
8.30 - 9.00am Simpsons again (Sky1)
9.00 - 10.30ish (hopefully ) ToyStory 2 (DVD)

The rest of the day will be -

10.30 - lunch - CBeebies
Sleep (for the kids, not me!!!)
13.00 ish - CBeebies
15.00 either Shrek, Monsters Inc or Beauty & The Beast
16.30 18.00 - CBeebies

This is the same routine EVERY day

I must stress that although the telly is on, my eldest daughter also plays normally. She likes to have it on in the background (so no break from it!!) I'm also trying to ween them off too much telly - back to old school entertainment (painting, drawing, playing etc!)

Must also stress that even though I'm at home, so is wifey (on Maternity Leave till I go back to work )

my daughter's only 3 and she puts video's on herself.

we've caught her watching our chubby brown vids on a few occasions
so now, one of her favourite sayings is "you fat b@5t4rd!"
which we're desperately trying to stop before she starts school in september , it does make you laugh sometimes though !!

like somebody mentioned, VCR operation is no longer an elusive art dedicated to those who study black magic!!!!

My (3yr-old) constantly changes the videos in our VCR upstairs - granted she's only got a choice of 34 Simpsons tapes, and it saves me the job of doing it!!

The DVD is the same, however, due to the cost involved, I've put it, and the DVD collection, along with the XBox games (something else she can use - she even knows how to load CMR3 off the HD ) onto a high shelf, above the TV.

The annoying one is (my own fault for leaving the door open ) is that she likes to "play" in my studio

The amount of times I've gone in to finish a mix, only to find all my mixer faders (96 of 'em !) have been pulled down (or pushed up) and the presets on the analogue modelling stuff have been "modified" [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
The amount of hours that's cost me in re-mixing work!!!
Must get that lock fitted
However, she is allowed in there when I'm working - she's slowly learning about the keyboards, so if she asks I will gladly teach her

Strangely enough, though, she won't mess with the Mac (studio) or the PC (downstairs) - even though they've got lots of flashy lights and pretty pictures on them (which is why I bought them!!)

Says it all really!

I grew up on Technic Lego, Meccano and Transformers.

Never, ever had a doll and if ever someone was stupid enough to buy me one it was usually in bits within the hour and dumped in the bin.

Used to watch Moomins, Clangers, Ivor The Engine, Bagpuss, Thomas the Tank Engine and loads of others.
I don't remember what I watched when I was under 4 to be honest.

Haven't got kids, so can't really sympathise and have no intention of spawning anything either.
Having babysat for my cousin's little lass and my old landlord's wee lasses, I have managed a day with these programmes, but no longer LOL.
