I've managed to cut a slice in a mole on my Chin (again!) it's been bleeding now for over an hour, how the hell do i stop it

It's pouring out of the side of plasters.

It's only a small cut, but boy is it pumping some blood out!

Ouch!

Treat it as a normal shaving cut, just a little piece of tissue over it and then let the blood hold it to your face.

If there is loads of blood get more tissue, apply pressure, raise your chin as far as you can and most importantly don't let i get on the keyboard.

Once it's stopped read this.

Good luck

Get a very expensive sonic thingy and stick it in your mouth for two hours. Then hit it with a spade.

Try dabbing the mole with an ice cube. Theory goes that the veins will contract due to the low temperature. That contraction will slow the flow of blood, allowing it to scab over. Never tried it on a mole, but it works on 'normal' cuts.

Hi mate

Go see your GP and get him to refer you to a dermetologist. He will whip it off (painlessly) in no time at all. I had one of these little ******* on my chin and lost count of the number of times I went into meetings with bits of @rsewipe stuck to my face soaking up the blood.

Get shot of it - you'll be glad you did.

Cheers

Moles (melanomas) have absolutely shedloads of tiny blood vessels in 'em.

Get to the GP, and have him lop it off.

Thanks for the advice anyway, two hours later it stopped bleeding, can't even see the cut now the blood has gone, but it was pouring out , I allways think i'll have it cut off, every time i cut it.. but never get round to it.. think i'll go for it.

WHat's the procedure when they cut it off, does it leavbe a big scar?

Cheers

I've had one removed from my back. The thing bled for aaaages before it was removed.

Done under a local anaesthetic. It was right in the centre of my shoulder blades (not a lot of skin there) and there's now no scar. Took a fair while to disappear tho. Doesn't hurt, and the little sod never bleeds again

Cheers,

Nick.

Moles have their own dedicated arterial supply, hence the tendency to bleed. If it is pedunculated, the vessels pass up and back via the stalk, tie it off and the mole will die.

Avi, could be a postcode lottery, but I had a few frozen off at the GPs - nurse just connects up some utensil to the ?liquid oxygen bottle and touches the mole for 10 seconds. It dies and drops off about 2 weeks later. Sometimes you need 2-3 attempts to get it flush. When I was in Sussex it was easy and free. When I moved to Reigate they said they were far too busy to do that kind of thing and it would have to be on referral by specialist appointment

Got mine done as I have crappy fair skin and am terrified of skin cancer. I got the impression that the NHS do this in order to avoid skin cancer claims later. OTOH, moles are benign tumours and aggravating them by freezing can make them malignant... yada yada...
