I'm looking for a cheap (ie under £85) printer for my PC at home. Nothing fancy required, my Epson Colour 440 has given up.(it was always incredibly slow anyway).
Does anyone have any recommendations?

If you can get the 760 for that price I'd thoroughly recommend it! I've got one and its excellent, unbelievable with photo quality paper

I bought an Epson 760 at Macro last weekend for around 85 pounds. Fast and good quality print. I've had problems with the USB port. I think its a loose connection at the PC end though.

Oops don't buy the 760 as this was made end of line about 2 months ago and the 580 and 680 that replace it are of a better spec ( now 2800 dpi) and cheaper too, if memeory serves me correctly.

thanks for the replies so far guys, are Epson considered to be generally superior price for price than say HP or Canon?
I wasn't all that impressed with my Epson 440 as it seemed to go through an incredibly long winded head cleaning type process before every print job!

Try looking for a Canon BJC 1000, I got mine as part of a bunlde, I think they are about £80. Had it a year with no problems, not a bad print either.

Epson took the lead a couple of years ago leaving HP and Canon to catch up. HP have been getting close but if you compare the quality of the printers the Epson is normally noticably better. Speed can be an issue with any of the cheaper printers so its often worth spending another 20 to get something quicker.
