Talking

Kids are away this week. Got a days holiday for this Thursday. Want to do some sort of motorsport thing (track, stage, hillclimb, trials etc) with the (MYxx) wife - she's the one with the Scoob!

Could use the Scoob if non-damaging, or have access to a 328i, or would use any car supplied.

Any ideas at this late stage?? South of Birmingham preferred.

TIA

Quick summary for everyone...on the whole very good.

3 laps in Golf GTi driven by instructor demonstrating brake, change and turn points (all signposted at edge of track)

3 laps driving the instructor around in the Golf - being assessed for car control, braking, turning etc (*)

3 laps driving (instructor as passenger) in a (manual) 328GTB - pretty damn quick. Gearchange appalling - worst I've ever experienced. No spring loading and you have to look down to see which part of the gate to move the lever into.

3 laps driving (instructor as passenger) in a 355F1 (F1 style up/down paddles, no clutch) - very very quick. Spot on handling. They didn't mind it being booted out of corners, as long as it wasn't to soon. Change up at 7500+ rpm'ish. Saw about 110mph on the short straight. Pretty noisy. Overtook someone else on their 328GTB laps - felt real cool to do that.

3 laps as passenger in an Elise - instructor was good fun and one of the last of the late brakers, steering on throttle etc

(Optional £40 extra - and didn't do it) 3 laps in Maserati 3200GT. Spins wheels on every gear change up to 100mph in the dry! Tyres last them 6 days!

Some other things to while away the time -Land Rover which turns left when you steer right and drive a fire engine. Plus a piccie and a packed lunch. Good arrangements, people to talk to etc

Value for money at normal price of £199 per person - OK, especially if you've only driven 0-60 in 10 secs type cars before. Value for money at £99 per person ('cos we booked 2 days in advance) - definitely, even if you've driven fast(ish) cars before.
