Yeah sure do. I'm a sales manager at MicroWarehouse or better known as MacWarehouse. Our education teams sell a fair bit of the products but awareness of them is not what is used to be.

An old friend of mine used to know one of the big cheeses there, Peter Benson I think his name was.

Got to come clean, I actually work for Hi Res as Senior Support Engineer. One of the development team was mentioning how someone who has nothing to do with computing knew of Hi Res and thus I thought I'd pop a message here and see what it throws up.

AllanB:
Peter Benson has rejoined and purchased Hi Resolution and is now Marketing Director. So he's now a really, really big Cheese.

RichB:
As you can guess from the above it's probably from my profile that you got to our site.

I hope no-one thinks I'm being smarmy, I was just curious to see if anyone outside of the industry had heard of us, as I thought it very unlikely.

Cool

Yes, It was you! I thought I was going mad.
I am a Mac developer am I'm sorry to say I had not heard of you before. Although that is probably because I spend far too long on here rather than getting on with looking at this boring MacOSX stuff that I am about 2 weeks behind.
...any jobs going for a lazy programmer who spends far too long read BBSs?

Yeah, Good old Terri.
Kim left to drop a sprog, shame she was a great laugh, we don't see them downstairs much but I did see Rhona yesterday.
We are looking into how much effort it will take to get our TM working on OSX. Do you reckon anyone will bother upgrading straight away?
I just can't seem to get into it, too many distractions...

I can't see that many people upgrading to X straight away, I imaging that most places would have one or two machines with X on it to play with and test compatibility, but I cannot see anyone upgrading all machines from Classic Mac OS to X.

Yeah I miss Kim. Dealt with her for a long time and had a good laugh with her. Maria didn't last long before jetting us for sunnier climates.

Must Apple sites don't realise what OS X is. They think its some natural evolution of AppleShare not understanding its Unix with a nice Mac like interface. Sales of it have been slow but I think Apple are going to be doing for more with OS X server later this year. Great product for web servering for video streaming and the like but most customers can't support it properly and dealers won't invest thousands into training on a product they sell so few of.

Now this will make you laugh. In germany sales of the BMW Z8 have been slow aso Apple have struck a deal with BMW to bundle a PowerBook G3 with the Z8 !!

Apple did the same with another car company, I think it was Peugeot with their 206/106 or Ford and the Focus/Fiesta, I can't remember, saw it advertised on the telly a couple of years ago.

Guys MacWarehouse are thinking about a Amc Server days for our customers and are looking at demonstrating Apple Share and OSX to demonstrate the differences and to also cover administration tools. Do you think your companies would be interested in taking part.

Markus I need to talk to someone about Mac Prefect who's best for me to talk to

AllanB:
You after Sales, or Tech questions?

If it's sales then ring us (01892 891291) and ask to speak to Peter Benson.

If it's tech then I guess as I'm Senior Support Engineer then I'll have to deal with you Seriously though, if it is tech then phone the same number and ask for Mark Warren, and you'll get to speak to me (scary eh!)
